Join us as we watch along at Richmond Community HS this Thursday from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. Small group discussions will follow immediately after, from 8 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Communities across the Commonwealth are invited to join in a fireside chat with First Lady Suzanne S. Youngkin and award-winning social psychologist, author and researcher Dr. Jonathan Haidt.

On September 19, the First Lady and Dr. Haidt will convene a fireside chat to discuss the findings of Haidt’s book The Anxious Generation and how it informs our communities and schools in limiting social media and cell phone use to help restore childhood and play. The event will be broadcast live to participating schools. Schools will use the chat as an opportunity to facilitate community conversations with parents, educators, students and families to create best practices for the use of cell phones and social media both in and out of school.

Who doesn't love a great book, especially one with a positive message?! 📕

Richmond's Commonwealth's Attorney Colette McEachin stopped by Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary this morning to share the "Wally & Freya" book with students.

The book — which is being donated by Mrs. McEachin's office to every K-2 classroom in RPS — focuses on restorative justice and bullying. 💙🧡💚

If students aren’t in school, they’re not learning. Each and every day, our Engagement team tells students , and works with families to address attendance barriers.

At RPS, ! Our schools prioritize building strong culture and deep relationships in the first few weeks of school. This engagement in critical because we want every student learning, every day! Plus — it can be really really fun 😁

While cleanup at Cardinal began this morning, several teachers packed up their cars and headed out on an adventure to deliver treats to students. 🍩🍩

🚨 Please note: Classes will resume for all Cardinal Elementary students on Tuesday, September 3.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided at the school through Thursday, August 29. 🥞🥓

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 This morning on the campus of John Marshall High School, we celebrated $15.3 million in federal funding to make energy efficiency upgrades at 22 schools! 🏫💡 These upgrades will occur over the next few years, lowering energy costs and improving air quality for RPS students. 🎉

🎉 Big smiles and even bigger pride today as Thomas Jefferson HS celebrated their recent accreditation! 🏫✨

Hats off to the following RPS schools who also received accreditation this year: Bellevue Elementary School, Overby-Sheppard ES, G.H. Reid ES, and Dogwood MS.

We couldn't be more proud of our students, teachers, administrators and everyone who made these great achievements possible! RPS‬⁩ is ON THE RISE!
