I would like to share as a post an email from Edelweiss House. https://edelweisshouse.org Happy Feast of the Most Precious Blood! (Sister Maria Philomena)
JMJ
As June was the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we now look toward that Precious Blood that flows from that Sacred Heart when pierced by the lance. While a drop of this Precious Blood is enough, True Love gave it all on the Cross of Redemption because real love leaves nothing in reserve.
In the United States, we prepare for the 250th year anniversary of the Declaration of Independence signed on July 4th, 1776. It is a historical fact that only one signee of the document was a Roman Catholic, yet there are claims that America is much more Catholic today than any time before. Some statistics show Catholics make up 20% of the population, 28% of Congress, 38% of Governors and 2/3 of the Supreme Court.
While the points are of interest, we must return to the Primary Point - The Mystical Body of Christ, the Holy Catholic Church, exists to give God glory and to sanctify souls. Let us then meditate on this: Has America truly become more Catholic, not just statistically, but in grace and virtue; or have Catholics become more American?
Patriotism is a duty we all have to love our Fatherland, and true love means to bring the truths of the One True Church, the Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, and "baptize" our nation. It is the Precious Blood which provides redemption, our true freedom, a freedom from sin and the punishment due to sin.
Let us begin this 4th of July on our knees adoring God, begging God's forgiveness for our sins, thanking Him for the many undeserved blessings in America, petitioning Him for the grace so that America will turn [her] collective heart to Him.
