NEW DEVOTIONAL — FREE

“Receive Christ.”

It’s a phrase many of us have heard before.

But when I stopped and reflected on John 1:12, I found myself asking:

Does my life reflect one who has received Him?

Using Abraham’s reception of the Lord in Genesis 18 as a point of reflection, this devotional explores what physical reception may reveal about spiritually receiving Christ—not as a formula for salvation, but as an opportunity to reflect on our own response to belief in Jesus.

Do I seek Him?

Do I worship Him?

Do I desire His presence?

Do I serve Him with honor?

Do I bring all that has been entrusted to me into participation with His presence?

This devotional is free and available now.

Join us at our workshop on Saturday morning at the Home Educators Association of Virginia (HEAV) convention! We can't wait to see you there!

Please reach out to the local newstations and advocate for them to cover a good news story about veterans and local businesses helping veterans.

We plan to attend ourselves on 01 JULY to share the gospel, give a message of hope, and discuss how to not just talk the talk but walk the walk of biblical manhood.

After church I went to pick up my son from children’s service and started talking with one of the brothers serving there.

He greeted me by name.

And I realized… I couldn’t greet him by his.

That bothered me.

Not because I had never seen him before—I had. Many times.

But because I had never slowed down enough to ask his name or formally introduce myself.

I’ve gotten better at this over time, but I realized I still have room to grow.

The Bible says:

“Peace be to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends, each by name.” — 3 John 15

That verse hit differently.

I know my physical brother’s name.

Jesus knows my name.

I know the names of people I’ve barely met.

So why wouldn’t I extend that same honor to my brother in Christ?

Scripture tells us:

“Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood.” — 1 Peter 2:17

So this is my challenge—to myself first:

Learn the names of your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Greet them by name.

Honor them.

Build unity in the body one conversation at a time.

Resting in Christ is not laziness.
It is trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ instead of trusting in yourself.

Justification is by faith alone, not by works.
A chair holds you up because you trust it enough to sit in it. Likewise, the believer rests in Christ because he trusts that Christ is sufficient to save him completely.

Works do not produce salvation.
Works proceed from genuine faith.

True faith works, serves, obeys, and endures—not to earn God’s favor, but because it has already received mercy through Christ.

“For whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.”
— Hebrews 4:10 ESV
