The Appalachian Shakespeare Center at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) presents William Shakespeare’s masterpiece Hamlet. Hailed as the greatest play ever written, the sweeping tragedy of the melancholy Dane is tackled by six actors in this radical re-imagining directed by EKU Professor Matthew Johnson.

Performances will take place April 30-May 2, 2026, in the Black Box Theatre at the EKU Center for the Arts in Richmond, Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. Student matinees will take place Thursday and Friday at 10am. Tickets are available for purchase through the EKU Center for the Arts.

Wild and wacky is BACK 🚨🎭

Appalachian Shakespeare Center is proud to present “Lil Willy’s Panto-Loons”! A sketch comedy show coproduced with the internationally renowned .

“Panto” features professional puppetry, pop culture and oblique Shakespeare references, an original script, professional performers, and so much more. The show is co-directed by Appalachian Shakespeare Center’s Matthew Johnson and Cincinnati Shakespeare Company Producing Artistic Director Brian Isaac Phillips.

Performances will take place Friday January 23 and Saturday January 24, 2026 in the Black Box Theatre at the . Show time is 7:30 p.m. with a cash bar!
