St. Christopher's School - Richmond, VA

To celebrate Pride Month this year, StC is delighted to recognize one of our outstanding alumni, Christopher Alexander '09, pictured on the far right, with his Saints alumni friends and his husband, Julian (third from left).

Alexander, the head of operations at MNC+Sons, a Brooklyn-based luxury residential and commercial construction firm, is a creative and dedicated Saint, an engaged alumnus, and counts his former StC classmates among his most steadfast companions. "To this day, many of my closest friends are those from St Christopher's," he writes. "Acceptance begins at home and at school, and I've been extremely fortunate to have friends, family, teachers, and mentors who continue to support me. While discovering who I am wasn't always easy, St. Christopher's taught me the importance of being true to myself–the importance of honesty."

Upper School Spanish Teacher and faculty co-head of StC's Gay-Straight Alliance, Elsa Woodaman, remembers Alexander as a student who spent much of his time creating detailed architectural drawings and sketches and who was even featured in “Raps and Taps” his senior year as a creative, passionate artist. "Christopher was always funny and talented in a very adult, mature way," Elsa writes.

Although Alexander now lives in Manhattan, many miles from StC's campus, he continues to keep his Saints relationships close. "I have been so proud to introduce my husband Julian to our community over the past few years, and it welcomed him with open arms and open hearts," Alexander writes. "St. Christopher's is a truly special place, one that I'm proud to call home."

Summer Saints kicks off today, and the boys and girls are fired up! Campers spent the first day swimming, singing, playing, creating art and meeting friendly animals.

Upper School boys spent the last week of the school year engaged in diverse experiential learning opportunities. Grade 9 boys bonded during field games and other activities, while our sophomores teamed up with St. Catherine's to learn new skills, build connections, and take part in community service by supporting organizations including Southside Releaf, Sportable, Belmont Food Pantry and Richmond ToolBank.

Our juniors spent the week getting ready for college and beyond, focusing on resume building, college application prep, and even attending an etiquette workshop. From table manners to dressing well for interviews, our boys learned how to make a good impression.

Our Middle School was honored to take part in "Kick for a Cure" last week! Led by recent StC alumnus Steven Bishara '25, more than 60 MS boys participated in the friendly soccer tournament, which raised funds and awareness for appendix cancer research. The event was also a way for Bishara to honor the memory of his mother, who passed away last summer. "It's a rare disease," Bishara said. "We wanted to find a way to spread awareness, and we were very fortunate that Dr. Hunter was willing to take the lead and help us out. It really means everything to us."

To date, the event has raised more than $28,000 in partnership with the Appendix Cancer PMP Research Foundation, and Bishara hopes to make "Kick for a Cure" an annual campus tradition.

It was such a gift to hear the joint choirs and strings perform for the community this spring! Joined by students from our sister school, St. Catherine's School, Ryan Recital Hall was filled with beautiful music and song throughout April and May.

It was a gorgeous morning to celebrate our Middle School Final Program! Surrounded by friends, family teachers and staff, we honored our eighth grade boys and all their achievements during a ceremony on the Terraces. Congratulations to these wonderful young men, and we wish the community and restful and joy-filled summer!

It was a beautiful morning on campus today! Fifth grade boys and their families started the day with the newly-established tie ceremony, symbolizing the students' transition to Middle School, before participating in a joyful Final Program on the Terraces.
