Student volunteers from St. Christopher's School - Richmond, VA and St. Catherine's School did an amazing job rebuilding this deck! Even in the sweltering heat, they worked hard to finish the project and also replace a fence in the backyard. Thank to all the students who volunteered their time! The homeowners were extremely grateful for the repairs.
It's an annual tradition for students from St. Catherine's School and St. Christopher's School - Richmond, VA to spend their X-term volunteering with us. We are so grateful for the time they gave at our humane center last week doing laundry, assisting our animal care technicians in dog kennels, washing dishes, cleaning our catillions, giving enrichment to pets in our care, organizing, restocking, cleaning our transfer van and more.

If you have a group who is interested in volunteer opportunities, please email our volunteer management team, [email protected], to learn more about group activities.
💚 Friday Feel Good 💚

This week, we want to shout out these young hunger-fighters for going the extra mile to serve our neighbors in need!

Nearly 100 St. Catherine's School and St. Christopher's School - Richmond, VA students have been lending a helping hand at Feed More all week long as part of their experiential learning X-term program! From delivering Meals on Wheels and assembling birthday boxes for our homebound neighbors to packing fruit cups for the kids and teens we serve through our Weekend BackPack program, these students have been giving back in a big way!

Thank you for your support! 👏👏
Dear Grace and Holy Trinity,

I am delighted to announce that we have called a new associate rector, The Rev. Paul Evans, with the unanimous support of the search committee and Vestry, and that he has accepted the call. Paul’s primary focus will be the leadership of our parish administration and communication team. He brings more than 15 years of experience in this area, having served at various Episcopal churches and schools.

Some of you will remember Paul, as he served Grace and Holy Trinity as the part-time assistant in our youth ministry programs before attending seminary. I know that Paul will bring genuine warmth and commitment to his work here, a parish he already loves.

Paul grew up in Richmond and happily returns home with his wife, Molly. He was ordained a transitional deacon this past March, and will be ordained a priest, God-willing, on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Paul is a graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary (MDiv), James Madison University (BA and MA), and St. Christopher's School - Richmond, VA.

We will celebrate his first Sunday with us on June 26th. I know you will join me in extending a warm welcome to Paul and Molly.

In Christ,

Duane Nettles, Rector
This week RT RVA partnered with St. Catherine's School and St. Christopher's School - Richmond, VA for their week of service.

Over two days, dozens of 9th graders braved the heat to pick up trash , lay down mulch, and remove water bags from city trees near T B Smith Community Center.

The students did an amazing job and we can't wait to work with them again!

We would also like to thank Virginia Community Voice for providing resources and support for this project. Check out their website to learn more about the valuable work they do in our community. www.vacommunityvoice.org

The Band and Strings concert for grades 7-12 last night was fantastic! The boys and girls sounded great, and we loved seeing the community show up to support our student musicians.

The first Lessons and Carols was celebrated at King's College in Cambridge, England, on Christmas Eve in 1918, and it continues to be celebrated in churches and schools worldwide. Last night, St. Christopher's held a Lessons and Carols service for the community and one today for Middle and Upper School students. We'd like to thank St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church for hosting the services.

As the school year winds down, we bid a fond farewell to our Upper and Middle School students from Guatemala! The boys look forward to seeing their families but will remember the friends they made at StC and the new things they experienced. "We love American football in Guatemala, but I've never played it with other people. I'll never forget this experience," said eighth grader Thomas. "The other boys wanted to know more about us," said sixth grader Santiago. "They always helped us when we needed it. I'll miss these people."

This holiday season, our Lower School Saints have been working to help families in need through Angel Tree, a Salvation Army program. Each homeroom was assigned two boys and a Christmas wish list, and our boys spent weeks collecting toys and clothing. Today, a group of boys from the Student Council Association assembled the gifts and delivered them to a distribution center. "Angel Tree has been an enormous success," said Lower School Co-Teacher Holly Moreland, who spearheaded the effort. "I hope that this helps the boys realize that sometimes people need a little extra support, and they're helping 44 boys in the area have a great Christmas."

Nobody does the holidays like StC! Yesterday our campus was filled with reflection, expressions of gratitude and friendship, as well as fun community events. The morning started off with Thanksgiving chapel services in the Lower and Middle Schools, followed by a first grade feast, a balloon parade at the LS, and the traditional afternoon Turkey Bowl for our MS boys. The kindergarteners even paid their St. Catherine's School buddies a visit to collaborate on art projects.

Enjoy the time with family and friends, Saints! Happy Thanksgiving.

We're so proud of our Seventh and Eighth Grade Choir! Last Friday, the boys performed at the Virginia Music Educators Association state conference. The audition selection process is highly selective, and the group was the only middle school choir in Virginia selected to perform. Go Saints!

"Remember to enjoy the people who choose to be with you. As seniors, we're running out of time to make special memories together," said AB Bullock '23. "Enjoy it. Every second you can," he said.

This morning, seniors led their traditional Thanksgiving service in Memorial Chapel for senior parents, grandparents, students and faculty. The community gathered to hear readings of gratitude and mindfulness. "Without the relationships I've formed here, my life would be very different," said Riley Finck '23. "Be thankful for your opportunities, be thankful for St. Christopher's, your families, and the time you have with them," he said.

From creating laser-cut art projects to baking delicious muffins, our Middle School boys do it all at the BUILD Lab! Unveiled last year and overseen by faculty member Carey Pohanka, the lab is a dedicated space for boys to design, innovate and creatively problem-solve.
