What are you reading this Read a Book Day?

The SCL staff is currently reading "Jesus the Great Philosopher: Rediscovering the Wisdom Needed for the Good Life" by Jonathan T. Pennington (incidentally, he will be presenting at our Summer Conference next year)! Together, we are exploring what it means to understand Jesus not only as Savior, but also as the teacher of a wise and flourishing life.

Books have a remarkable ability to deepen our understanding, challenge our assumptions, and shape the way we teach and lead. What book are you reading right now, or what book has shaped the way you think about classical Christian education?

How can preparing for death teach us to live with greater wisdom, agency, and hope?

Dr. Lydia Dugdale, one of our featured speakers at this past summer’s SCL Conference, joins Brian Williams on the *Forged* podcast to explore the lost art of dying well. Their conversation considers how tending to our relationships, forming our character, asking ultimate questions, and practicing hope can prepare us to face mortality without fear or despair.

What happens when students encounter "The Odyssey" not simply as an ancient story, but as part of a Christian education ordered toward truth, goodness, and beauty?

In a new article for National Review, Joseph Loconte highlights SCL member school The Geneva School of Manhattan, where students study Homer alongside Scripture and are formed through a robust classical Christian education.

Loconte places Geneva within a much larger renewal taking place across the country, highlighting the growing network of schools, educators, and organizations working together to reintroduce a new generation to the classical Christian inheritance of Western civilization.
