At the end of March, Spider Battalion Cadets stepped into the field for JFTX alongside UVA, JMU, Liberty, and VSU—building teamwork, sharpening tactics, and pushing limits every step of the way to get prepared for CST.

Spider Battalion represented with strength and intensity at this weekend’s Ranger Challenge. From start to finish, our Cadets demonstrated the discipline, teamwork, and heart that define our Battalion 💪

On January 9th, five Spider Battalion cadets took the oath of office and commissioned as U.S. Army officers. This milestone reflects years of discipline, leadership, and commitment. Proud to recognize the hard work that brought them to this moment and excited to see what they accomplish next.

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

From the simulator to the woods—Spider Battalion put our marksmanship to the test at EST and sharpened our land navigation skills during the day and night. Always training, always improving. 🕷️💪

These outstanding leaders have exemplified dedication, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to service. We salute their achievements and look forward to their continued excellence in service to our nation.

On May 16, 2025, the University of Richmond Army ROTC program held its Spring Semester Commissioning Ceremony. Seventeen Spider Battalion Cadets took the oath of office and pinned on the rank of Second Lieutenant. These newly commissioned officers will serve in the Active Duty Force, the Army Reserve, and the Army National Guard. The 2025 commissioning class included graduates of the University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University, Longwood University, and Virginia Union University.

The Commanding General of the United States Army Combined Arms Support Command/Sustainment Center of Excellence and Fort Gregg-Adams, Major General Michelle Donahue, served as the distinguished guest speaker. MG Donahue provided remarks on the leadership lessons she had learned and congratulated the commissioning class on all their achievements.

Congratulations again to our new 2LTs! We wish you the very best in all your future endeavors. The Spider Battalion would also like to thank the faculty, staff, friends, and families who came out and supported the 2025 Commissioning Class.
