Dear Richmond High Community / Supporters / Families / Friends / Everyone,
We’re proud to share some amazing highlights from an unforgettable robotics season that reflects not only our students’ hard work but the growing spirit of STEM across our district.
We kicked off this season by welcoming 22 schools to Richmond High for a regional kickoff celebration marking the official start of the robotics build season. It was an incredible day of learning, collaboration, and energy, and it set the tone for everything that followed.
Our program continues to bring together passionate students not only from Richmond High but also from neighboring schools like El Cerrito High, Pinole Valley High and local charter schools students who don’t yet have the opportunity to form their own teams. We’ve welcomed them with open arms to be part of our program, fostering a collaborative space where STEM learning is inclusive, inspiring, and accessible. This regional collaboration is helping reestablish Richmond as a growing STEM hub in our district and the East Bay.
From there, our team went on to compete in three regional events, reaching the finals bracket in every single one, a major achievement that places us in the top 11% of robotics teams worldwide! Their perseverance, creativity, and teamwork stood out at every level of competition.
Even more meaningful was the recognition of our team’s values and mentorship. Our students played a key role in helping launch the Pinole Valley High Robotics Team, guiding and supporting their journey from day one. Pinole Valley High did an amazing job in their rookie season, demonstrating remarkable spirit, perseverance, and teamwork—qualities that earned them the prestigious Rookie All-Star Award. This award celebrates a rookie team that embodies the mission and values of FIRST, and potential for future success. For these efforts, and for consistently demonstrating kindness, integrity, and collaboration, our team was honored with the Gracious Professionalism Award—a powerful recognition of the spirit they bring to the community.
And we have even more good news…
We’re bringing a robotics competition to Richmond High School!
Mark your calendars: May 17 and 18. 10AM-4PM
Richmond High School Main Gym
Free and open to the public.
It’s not always easy to get people out to our events, so we’re bringing the excitement here to our campus, our community, and our families. We’re excited to host teams, volunteers, and spectators for a full-scale competition that showcases what robotics is really about: creativity, teamwork, innovation, and fun.
We graciously invite you to be part of this experience whether you’re cheering from the stands, learning about robotics, or interested in volunteering. It’s going to be an incredible weekend and a powerful step forward as we continue to build Richmond’s STEM future.
Feel free to spread the word.
