Fourteen Lamar CISD juniors will spend four days walking five college campuses in Virginia with Dr. Nivens. The application closes Friday, September 4.

Every 11th grader in the district may apply. There is no minimum GPA in the application and no teacher nomination to chase. Students rule themselves out of district opportunities over requirements that were never there.

She has been learning the Lady Gators' routines from the stands all season. On October 24, she gets the floor.

The Junior Gators Cheer Clinic is open to ages 5 through 8th grade. Three hours of instruction with the Lady Gators, a showcase in the gym at noon, and a spot performing at the Pink Out game with the squad. The $65 fee covers the clinic, a Pink Out t-shirt, and a set of pom poms.

The Class of 2027 is doing senior year with nobody ahead of them. No alumni to call. No last year's seniors to copy. They are drawing the map as they walk it.

Juniors, you are the first Tomas class that will ever have a senior class to watch. That is the advantage of going second. Use it.

Start here. Four testing dates this year are free and happen during the school day. The seniors ahead of you are paying out of pocket for the same tests right now.

March 3, SAT school day

Junior year is also the last full year of grades a college sees. Rigor counts more this year than it will again.

Fourteen juniors from Lamar CISD will spend four days in Richmond, Virginia this year, walking five college campuses with Dr. Nivens. One of them could be your student.

This is open to every 11th grader in the district. There is no application to bring tonight. Tonight is where they explain it and hand it out. Bring a parent.

An hour tonight gets you the application in your hand and your questions answered by the people running the trip. A student who has stood on a campus applies differently than one who has only read about it. Four days does that five times over.

Your Gator is going to ask you for three dollars this week. Here is what it buys.

Friday is the first pep rally of the year and the gym goes tropical. Wristbands are $3, cash only, and there is no getting in without one. Student ID required at the door too.

This fall, 14 Lamar CISD juniors will walk the campuses of colleges in Richmond, Virginia alongside Dr. Roosevelt Nivens, the 2026 National Superintendent of the Year. Some of them will be standing on the campus they graduate from four years later.

One of them could be your student.

The Superintendent's College Tour is open to every 11th grader, and the path to a spot starts with one meeting:
