This page is in honor of, and a memorial to, Rhoda Higginbotham, beloved music teacher at Model Laboratory School in Richmond, KY, in the 1970's. Mrs. "Like" it!
Higginbotham passed away Monday, and this page became active at about the time of her burial.

This was a fun production. As I remember, Carol Henrickson nailed the soprano solo beautifully. Was the tenor solo Kevin, or maybe Alex Fassas? And didn't Owen Grise play electric guitar?

From John Parkhurst: I should have expected this, but Sunday morning in the choir, our director stood up, raised his arms, and lifted his eyebrows and smiled. I was transported back 40 years in time, and saw Mrs. Higginbothams's twinkling blue eyes that nonverbally told us to put on our singing faces, and I silently broke down and couldn't really sing. This week's memories of Mrs. Higginbotham are so incredibly sweet.

I'm sorry to pester, but it seems that many people don't know to "like" this page in order to see updates. Mrs. Higginbotham was such an inspiration to me during my days at Eastern. I did my Student Teaching with her in 1966. It amazed me the excitement she could incite in the children as we pushed the piano up and down the halls in the Irvine elementary schools. She was a special person.

Rhoda Higginbotham was the single most influential person in helping me to understand classroom management and the finer points of choral music education. Her passion for teaching and the love she exhibited was amazing!

In loving memory of an amazing, inspiring teacher who made a difference in so many lives. I was a neighbor to Rhoda Ann as we grew up in Irvine, KY. I did my student teaching under Rhoda Ann at Model School at Eastern KY University.
Her legacy lives on through her student teachers, and the many students she taught in school.

Mrs Higginbotham gave each of the seniors one of these pendants when we graduated. Our names were on the reverse. Another example of her thoughtfulness and love for her students.
