This was a fun production. As I remember, Carol Henrickson nailed the soprano solo beautifully. Was the tenor solo Kevin, or maybe Alex Fassas? And didn't Owen Grise play electric guitar?

From John Parkhurst: I should have expected this, but Sunday morning in the choir, our director stood up, raised his arms, and lifted his eyebrows and smiled. I was transported back 40 years in time, and saw Mrs. Higginbothams's twinkling blue eyes that nonverbally told us to put on our singing faces, and I silently broke down and couldn't really sing. This week's memories of Mrs. Higginbotham are so incredibly sweet.

I'm sorry to pester, but it seems that many people don't know to "like" this page in order to see updates. Please post on your own wall a request for others to "like" this page so that the content will grow. Miss Lane is connecting us with people at the funeral, who in turn are faxing a program to post. We should have Mrs. Higginbotham's family included soon. Also, if it is a serious endeavor to buy a piano in her memory, we are going to need to reach more people. Thanks for all of the posts so far!

Mrs. Higginbotham was such an inspiration to me during my days at Eastern. I did my Student Teaching with her in 1966. It amazed me the excitement she could incite in the children as we pushed the piano up and down the halls in the Irvine elementary schools. She was a special person.

Rhoda Higginbotham was the single most influential person in helping me to understand classroom management and the finer points of choral music education. Her passion for teaching and the love she exhibited was amazing!

In loving memory of an amazing, inspiring teacher who made a difference in so many lives. My years at Model were that much brighter and happier as a result of her tireless musicianship and leadership. I carry lessons and techniques gleaned from her musical direction with me to this day--not to mention the many friendships cemented in her exciting and uplifting choirroom.

I was a neighbor to Rhoda Ann as we grew up in Irvine, KY. I did my student teaching under Rhoda Ann at Model School at Eastern KY University.
Her legacy lives on through her student teachers, and the many students she taught in school.

TO THE HIGGINBOTHAM FAMILY, WE'RE SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT RHODA AND ALL THE BAD LUCK YOU ALL HAVE HAD LATELY? I THOUGHT THE WORLD OF RHODA'S MOM AND DAD. THE FIRST CAR I EVER RODE IN WAS BOUGHT BY MY DAD FROM JOHN WINN JUST BEFORE I WAS BORN AND YOUR MOTHER WAS A GREAT TEACHER! SHE CARED ABOUT THE STUDENTS A LOT MORE THAN THE PAY-CHECK SHE GOT EACH MONTH!! OUR PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS GO OUT TO RHODA AND HER WONDERFUL FAMILY! GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!

Mrs Higginbotham gave each of the seniors one of these pendants when we graduated. Our names were on the reverse. Another example of her thoughtfulness and love for her students.

Priscilla Lane has offered to deliver the content of this page to Mrs. Higginbotham's family, either via the internet, or in print form. I was hoping for it to have gone a little more viral. Could we all post the link on our own wall again today to solicit more content? Thanks!
