We are so grateful to Synergy Technical and VCU Basketball for visiting our Bellevue STEAM classroom today! 5th graders conducted an exciting electricity investigation, discovering how to power a clock using everyday foods like lemons and potatoes. By inserting two different metals (copper and zinc) into the fruit or vegetable, students created a simple chemical reaction that produced an electric current—essentially building a small battery! The acids in the lemons and the electrolytes in the potatoes helped move electrons between the metals, generating enough energy to make the clock work. What an engaging way to see science come to life! ⚡🍋🥔⏰ VCU Athletics Synergy Technical, LLC Richmond Public Schools
