Fine Arts is sometimes treated as separate from academic preparation. The data tells a different story.
According to the Texas Cultural Trust’s 2025 State of the Arts Report, Texas students highly engaged in the arts are up to 46% more likely to meet Texas Success Initiative college-readiness criteria.
The research used Texas Education Agency data for every student who first entered ninth grade in 2018–19, examining the relationship between Fine Arts course engagement and important outcomes such as attendance and college and career readiness.
The finding is clear: meaningful access to Fine Arts belongs in the conversation about preparing Texas students for what comes next.
Strong students require a complete education—and Fine Arts is part of that education.
