Today, our Green Birds conducted a pot of gold experiment! They were in for a big surprise when they mixed their solutions together.

Today and yesterday, our Yellowbirds had fun conducting experiments that allowed them to explore the colors of a RAINBOW!

Today our school age children brightened up our cobblestone walkways with some chalk art!

Today was BEAUTIFUL outside! The School Age children played outside for the entire day! They created some chalk art and played a few game of catch.

Today our Green Birds were helping fill a box of goodies to send to the 615 ASB, Bravo Company, who are on a deployment. We hope that they enjoy their keychains that were made from our activity today!

Today our Yellow Birds and Green Birds had a Valentines party to remember! They were able to pose for pictures, exchange valentines with friends, complete fun activities, and enjoy their dance party!
Love Grams are the number one way to get a child to smile during the month of February. :)
We are honored to participate in the Little Hats, Big Hearts program this year! Our infants were very excited to be wearing these hand made beanies supporting a great cause of heart disease awareness.

Today, the Green Birds dramatic play center was transformed into a beautiful sunny park! The kids enjoyed being able to go down the slide and loved their pretend picnics.
In our Yellowbirds classroom, the kids were playing a valentines game aimed at identifying letters and naming things that start with the letter they stopped on. You can tell these kids had their thinking hats on!
Finally, if you have not had a chance, please feel free to come in during pick up or drop off and create a Love Gram for your child! Each day from February 7th - February 11th they will be passed out.

Last week Tuckaway was able to host the first annual Leadership Summit featuring speaker Beth Cannon. We hosted Directors and Assistant Directors from several different schools around the area. It was truly amazing to be able to collaborate with other centers. Beth was an amazing speaker, and we were able to gain knowledge to better ourselves and our centers!

E3 day three was amazing! We learned how to set up a fishing rod and set out on an adventure to catch some fish. We caught a group total of 16 fish, 2 turtles, and one lunchbox!

E3 day 2 was centered around using teamwork to create a raft that could hold a person. We also built animal traps and talked about camouflage. Our test animal was an ostrich on the hunt for doughnuts.

Today we started our first E3 experience. This is a more extreme camp for some of our older kids. This session, we learned a lot about survival and how to create a shelter. We also went through our new hiking bags and began practicing using our compasses and other tools to help us navigate the wilderness.

Our Story
Tuckaway Barony is conveniently located in the West End near Three Chopt Road and Cox Road, just off Broad Street near Innsbrook. Many Tuckaway-Barony parents work nearby and are able to visit during the day.
The children at Tuckaway-Barony are divided by age group into two buildings: Barony I for younger children and Barony II for school-aged children. Tuckaway's bright and extremely spacious age-appropriate classrooms allow children to receive care appropriate for their age and stage of development. Barony I's preschool classrooms also feature supervised, ongoing computer access, so children are prepared for increasingly technology-based elementary school curricula.
Barony also offers two separate age-appropriate playgrounds, so children are able to run and play with their peers at their own stage of development. Barony II's playground features over 2 acres of space for soccer, kickball, flag football, and many other activities. Tuckaway's spacious playgrounds also contain large, in-ground swimming pools carefully supervised by teachers and certified life-guards, and sectioned off by swimming ability and age, to provide the utmost safety to every child. Tuckaway also provides swimming lessons as part of the regular program.
Like all of the Tuckaway locations, Tuckaway-Barony always provides family-style dining with warm, home-cooked meals prepared in its very own kitchen. All of Tuckaway's menus are prepared according to USDA guidelines.
