🍅 GARDENING ON LUNCH 🌿

Fresh-picked tomatoes + basil from the garden tossed onto low-fat cottage cheese with fresh ground black pepper = simple, affordable, nutrient-packed goodness.

Sometimes the healthiest meals are the least complicated. ❤️

🥣 3/4 cup low-fat cottage cheese + fresh garden toppings:
• Approx. 135–150 calories
• 20g protein
• 4–5g carbs
• 2–3g fat

PLUS:
🍅 Tomatoes = vitamin C, potassium & lycopene for heart health
🌿 Basil = antioxidants + anti-inflammatory benefits
⚫ Fresh ground black pepper may help enhance nutrient absorption

And honestly… how many of us will pay restaurant prices tomorrow for a “fancy” basil cheese appetizer or light meal when we can create something fresher, cheaper, and just as beautiful at home? 🌱

🛑 Message on Repeat: Strong Over Skinny. We’ve all heard of "skinny fat," but what are we actually doing about it? Here are a few non-negotiable truths I preach every single day:

💪🏻Muscle is your greatest asset: It's the ultimate predictor of quality longevity versus a sucky end.
💪🏻Muscle is metabolism; lack it, and you are inviting metabolic disorders and all their consequences.
🫀Visceral fat is the real enemy: That unseen, dangerous organ fat is far more hazardous than subcutaneous fat (the tire you can see and pinch).

🥦Nutrition over calories: Focus on high-quality fuel—lean protein, fibrous plants, and whole grains.

🧠Prioritize self-care: Stress management is a vital, often overlooked component of true health.

💊 A New Caution with GLP-1s: I'm seeing a lot of clients navigate GLP-1 medications. One major caution I keep learning? If you eat crap (high fat and simple sugars like cakes and cookies) while on them, you feel like crap—hello nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Because digestion is slowed, these medications not only make you eat less, they can physically drive you away from eating processed junk because of the harsh consequences. You have to count the costs. I have some clients staying on them and some getting off, but the medication isn't a silver bullet. And if planning to get off of it, what is in place to not return to former state?

🏆 The Real Transformation: The clients with the greatest returns are the ones who transformed their beliefs, likes, interests, and time management. They made tough decisions and stuck to them:
✍️Plan and prep their own meals (or buy a service that does).
📅Control their own calendars.
🏋️‍♀️Hit the gym for resistance training 3-4x/week and cardio 2-3x/week.

The gained confidence and energy from being the owner of your health rather than a victim is something no one or anything can take away from you.

54 trips around the sun. 🌞⚔️
Perimenopause has entered the chat… and she’s not gentle.

In 7 days I:
🔥 Completed the Spartan DEKA Mile unbroken
🤍 Was held up by my partner, friends, colleagues & clients
🩺 Lived through an uncelebrated Nurse’s Week (because prevention still isn’t “healthcare”)
💸 Got hit with a 40% pay cut for work I fought hard to be qualified to do
🎓 Celebrated huge milestones for people I love
🎂 Had a birthday
🌷 Survived Mother’s Day emotions

And yes… I see the photos.
The body is changing.
The hormones are shifting.
The mirror is louder than it used to be.

But I’m done letting strangers live rent-free in my head.
I’m conserving my energy for what matters: family, real community, strength, purpose, peace.

Midlife is both sacred and savage.
The profound… and the profane.

I’m not giving up.
Not on my body.
Not on my calling.
Not on this world—no matter how broken it feels.

When was the last time you tried something new… just for FUN? 🎾✨

As a lifestyle, fitness, and wellness coach, I’m always reminding clients that movement doesn’t have to look like a gym workout to be valuable.

Today was our first day playing pickleball, thanks to friends who invited us to come try it out—and I’m so glad we said YES. 🙌

We burned quite a few calories in the Houston heat + humidity 🥵, had some great laughs, and then topped it off with a lovely brunch + outdoor hot tub time. (Honestly… 10/10 day.)

The Hubs and I walked away saying:
“Yep… we’d definitely play again.” 😄

We have so many friends who have picked this game up, and per typical us… we’ve been slow to hop on any craze. But I’m happy we finally did.

Will it become a full-blown hobby? Maybe, maybe not.
But either way, pickleball is now in our arsenal of lifestyle tools for physical entertainment, movement, community, and quality of life. 💪🌿

Come train with me if using GLP1s or considering such. I have one to two openings happening soon, one is a graduate of my program while using a GLP1. Another client is preparing g for an ultra cycling race that is 750 miles!

It is important to have baseline measures BEFORE starting this med.

TOGETHER, we monitor your success by discussing the measures of body fat & lean mass & we identify & address fitness, nutrition, & wellness programming to support your goals & action steps, pivoting as needed.
