Summer Spotlight: Sisterly Service in Action!

This summer, our dedicated sister, Kiaira Mills, returned to her alma mater to volunteer during band camp. She spent the week assisting the Wind section, offering guidance, mentorship, and sharing her band journey. Kiaira enjoyed reconnecting with her roots, reflecting on her musical experience, and inspiring the next generation of young musicians.

From pain to power, from struggle to celebration Happy Juneteenth!

Eta Psi Honorary Member, Maria D. James Named Area II Top Lady of the Year by Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.

Waldorf, MD – Maria D. James, a VUU Class of 2004 graduate and the winner of the 2007 VUUNAA Young Alumna of the Year Award, was recently honored as the Area II Top Lady of the Year by Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. She received the prestigious LaVerne Madlock Top Lady of the Year Award during the organization’s Area II Leadership Conference held on Saturday, April 12, in Richmond, Va.. The award is named in honor of one of the organization’s founders.

James was selected for her impactful service and innovative presentation of achievements, which were captured in a dynamic and visually engaging portfolio.

Competing among nominees from chapters spanning Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., New York, and surrounding areas, James distinguished herself through a compelling display of leadership, creativity, and public service. She will now advance to represent Area II at the org
