As I continue working on this year's conference, I cannot help but to reflect on last year. I had the honor of having an amazing professional support me in a way that I never knew I needed until she showed up and did the d@mn thang.
Quick backstory: I was contacted about having a Day of Show liaison (not the real name but ya'll know I make up stuff🙃). I was like ok, literally having ZERO idea of what that was or what to expect. This was my 3rd year doing the conference with just me, my husband, the amazing speakers and vendors, so stress was normal to me.
Fast Forward to October 2025: Day 2, the main conference day comes. I walk down to the conference room and Chineze Rodnique Kelly was there waiting, smiling and ready to get the ball rolling. The conference doors open around 8am for registration and breakfast, with the first speaker hitting the stage by 9:30a after the welcome. From 8am until we concluded a little after 5pm, Chineze with 5 Fifty Five Society had me TOGETHER!! Do you hear me, TOGETHER! She anticipated my every need, handled getting folks registered, ensured speakers didn't run over time, made sure the food was out and ready at it's designated times and that I was breathing, eating and hydrated. And that is a short list to be honest because there are always a million small things that happen during conferences that need addressing.
I am not a person who is used to having support because to me, it's so easy being a lone ranger. Sometimes having "help" is more work, but this was NOT the case. What I learned last year is that, support feels AH-Mazing and is necessary when the person knows what they are doing and are about their business. Just being asked, "Did you drink some water yet", or told to step to the side for a minute or just go eat 😂. I was able to focus on the people while she focused on the conference. Meaning she was getting content, filling in the technical gaps, sprucing up decor and making sure we stayed on task with the program books. Even giving day of suggestions that helped the day flow smoother.
If you have a business or event, this is who you need on your team for sure! Thank you Chineze Rodnique Kelly for being a valuable part of the 3rd annual She Heels Her, She Heels the World women's conference foundation!
