Congratulations to Richmond’s own Alysa Liu!

Alysa Liu made history at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, claiming the Gold Medal in the women’s individual event following an incredible comeback to the sport.

She surged from 3rd place to 1st place with a career-best free skate score of 150.20, finishing with a total of 226.79.

She is the first American woman to win individual Olympic gold since Sarah Hughes in 2002—ending a 24-year drought for the U.S.

This is her second gold medal of the 2026 Games, following her win in the Team Event.
