It was Sept 11th 2001, I was a Captain on a Beechcraft 1900 based out of Pittsburgh, and just took off with a full load of 19 passengers on our way to Ogdensburg NY. Climbing through 3000 ft the controller says in a very stark voice, “All aircraft will be diverted to land as soon as possible due to a National emergency, respond only with an ident, and expect immediate vectors to return to the airport.” We had no idea what we would learn as thousands of aircraft Nationwide were vectored to land within 30 minutes, in the only full Nationwide grounding of all aircraft ever experienced.
Once back at PIT we all offloaded into the terminal, with both crew and passenger unaware of the unbelievable impact of that day, and watched the news in disbelief, in an eerily silenced packed terminal. Within a week, I would loose my job, as thousands of us airline pilots were placed on furlough, with our future uncertain.
Today, we remember our Nations first responders, and remain in awe of them, as we imagine them running towards those towers, and climbing those stairs, with their furture also uncertain. We praise their intent and determination to help those in need without any hesitation as to their mission, and without regard to their own personal safety. We remember those who lost loved ones, and watched as our entire nation mourned with them in solidarity. We were once again under attack, and our way of life threatened, as our enemies brought the fight to our land, and hit us here at home. We remember because of who we are as a people, and we do it to bring honor to those who gave their lives to help those they didn’t even know.
To our first responders, today is for you, not because of what was done to us, but rather because of who you are. We salute you, and appreciate your sacrifice, and dedication, to helping all of us when we need it most.

I had the pleasure of being asked about the pilot shortage on an international news network.
Mark Hackett discusses the pilot shortage Mark Hackett, Pilot and CEO of Richmond Executive Aviation joins CGTN's Phillip Yan to discuss airline disruptions and the pilot shortage.
Everyone, due to abrupt nature of our closure we have our most important assets, our team members, that need new homes. We have outstanding employees that would be tremendous assets to any organization. Please reach out to us if you have any jobs available.
Thank you!

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the forced closure of REA. The airport authority notified REA yesterday that they were revoking our FBO contract effective immediately, and asked REA to phase down operations. With less than 24 hour notice, the County arrived under armed es**rt to get the keys to our buildings. The County also have started notifying our client base prior to us giving notice to our own employees. We are reviewing all legal remedies available to us at this time.
We want everyone to know how much you meant to us, and how much we valued your support and business. We have certainly made our mark, and we have set a new standard for customer care. We hope you hold them to that new standard and demand such from your elected representatives. As we work out the legal details, please refrain from spreading false rumors, and feel free to call me directly.
We are truly sorry for the very abrupt notice, they did not give us much of a choice.
Thank you all,

Airline pilot shortages impacting summer travel Major airlines all over the country have been canceling hundreds of flights a day, citing pilot shortages after encouraging many pilots to retire early during the pandemic while underestimating the demand during recovery.

FULL SPOT IS AT 6PM
I was interviewed by NBC12 today to talk about the “pilot shortage” effects and possible solutions. The spot will air at 4 and 6PM tonight. Tune in to hear about what caused the shortage and what’s in store for the future of the profession.
This shortage is the primary reason REA is here, and working towards being part of the solution to the problem which is more far reaching. Your own summer travel will most likely be effected, and it’s only the tip of the iceberg.
