Virginia Sheriffs' Institute (VSI)

The Virginia Sheriffs' Institute joins the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office in mourning the line-of-duty death of Deputy Burlie W. Duvall III, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving his community on Aug. 6, 2026.

Deputy Duvall dedicated his life to protecting others and is survived by his wife and three children.

The VSI extends its deepest condolences to Sheriff Robert Richardson, the members of the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Duvall's family, friends, and loved ones. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Bats, badges & a great cause! ⚾🚔

Kudos to Washington County Virginia Sheriff's Office for organizing another successful Battle of the Badges Softball Tournament, bringing together law enforcement agencies from Virginia and Tennessee for a day of friendly competition, camaraderie, and community support.

The annual event raised funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, helping make a difference for children and families in need.

Richmond City Sheriff's Office teamed up with CBS 6 for this year's Anthem LemonAid Stand. RCSO staff and CBS 6 volunteers came together to sell cups of lemonade for $1 to community members, with all proceeds going directly toward pediatric cancer treatment and research.

Every dollar raised helps provide critical resources for children and families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, grabbed a cup, and supported our kids!
