CHS Richmond Parents:

CALENDAR UPDATE:

Friday, March 18, 2022 will now be a noon dismissal for Charterhouse School Richmond.

01/25/2022

CHS-Richmond Families,

Please remember that tomorrow is early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:00pm.

01/14/2022

Attention Charterhouse School Edinburg parents:

We are extending the virtual-learning period for all students through next week, January 17-21. A high positivity rate of coronavirus among CHS staff and the families we serve has created a disruptive combination of illnesses, isolations, and quarantines. The scenario has ultimately affected staffing at CHS, and to best serve students during this surge, it's necessary to remain virtual. Our goal is always to host in-person learning when it’s safe to do so, and we will plan to return to in-person learning in two phases. These plans are subject to change.

PHASE 1 (Monday, January 24): Phase 1 will begin Monday, January 24. Elementary students in Ms. Elbon and Ms. Bonilla's classes will return to school. ASD students in Ms. Whitaker and Mr. Orndorff's classes will also return.

PHASE 2 (Monday, January 31): Phase 2 will begin Monday, January 31. All General Education Middle School and High School classrooms will return.

If the situation with COVID-19 prevents us from moving forward, we’ll provide as much advance notice as possible, but changes could occur with little notification. Our top priorities remain the health and safety of students and staff. We continue to monitor COVID-19 data and work in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and Lord Fairfax Health District to ensure the safety of students and staff. We ask that you please continue following COVID-19 mitigation strategies and use the student symptom checklist when in-person learning resumes. Most importantly, please do not send students to school if they're sick.

We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate yet another phase of the pandemic.

01/14/2022

Good Morning CHS Richmond Parents:

We will begin our return to in-person instruction in phases. The first phase will start next week with the return of our ACP class. The next phase (week of January 24th-28th) will include the return of our Elementary class and Team 2 (high school classes) and the next phase (week of January 31st through February 4th) will include the return of Team 1 (middle school classes). This is our plan right now, it is possible we may have to make adjustments. We will be sending out individual emails out soon, or you can reach out to your child's homeroom teacher or coach.

Please remember that Monday, January 17, 2022 is a school holiday.

01/10/2022

Please remember that CHS-Richmond is virtual this week.

01/05/2022

CHS-Richmond will be closed tomorrow. Staff will be in the building for Chrome Book pick up starting at 10am. Please arrange a time with your child's teacher. Virtual instruction will start on Thursday, January 6th.

01/03/2022

Charterhouse School-Richmond will be closed on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 due to today’s winter weather, temperatures are expected to drop tonight into the teens creating the potential for continuing slippery road conditions into tomorrow, and the possibility of power outages remains.

01/02/2022

CHS Richmond will be closed 1/3/2022 due to the upcoming snow storm.

12/30/2021

An Important Message for Parents and Guardians of CHS Richmond and Edinburg Students:

After careful review of the rising positivity rates in Virginia, the greater Richmond area, Shenandoah County, and the localities we serve, it has been deemed necessary to move all students to virtual learning for January 3rd through January 7th, 2022.

The status for student return to in person learning will be reviewed on Wednesday, January 5th and a decision will be shared on Thursday, January 6th.

We understand the difficulty this may cause for some of our families. We do not take this decision lightly, and as always, we are focused on the health and safety of our students and staff. Our goals is to monitor the status and return to in person learning as soon as it is safe to do so.

In order to help us assess the situation accurately, please contact the school if you or members of your household display symptoms, is deemed a close contact of an individual that has
testing positive, or if your child or other members of the household test positive for COVID.

On Monday a staff member will follow up with you to ensure you have the necessary information for your child to participate in virtual instruction. They will also help to schedule a time to pick up a Chrome Book if that is needed.

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we continue to navigate this ever-evolving situation.

Best,
Sarah Headley-Boyd

An important message for our CHS Edinburg families:

In response to a recent positive case of COVID-19, Charterhouse School Edinburg is moving to virtual learning effective November 24th. We plan to return to in-person learning on Monday, Dec. 6th.

Thank you for your continued support and patience as we all work together to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

11/19/2021

CHS Richmond Parents-Important notification

As was communicated yesterday, we have recently had a student test positive for COVID-19. Individuals that were determined to be a close contact were notified. In accordance with our mitigation plan, Charterhouse School has met the criteria to suspend in-person learning and will be moving to virtual instruction beginning Monday, November 22nd through Friday, December 3rd. All students present in school today will be going home with their Chrome Book. Parents of any students not in school today can reach out to Homeroom staff to schedule a time to pick up a Chrome Book. Teachers will be reaching out to parents and guardians to provide instructions on how to access the virtual platform. We feel this is the best option to reduce and minimize transmission and to keep everyone safe, which is our priority. We continue to appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

Best,
Sarah Headley-Boyd

Good Morning Richmond CHS Families,

Just a reminder that tomorrow, November 4th, is a noon dismissal for Charterhouse School students. You should have received a message from your child's teacher regarding scheduling a virtual Parent Teacher Conference tomorrow afternoon. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you still wish to schedule a conference time. If the times tomorrow do not work with your schedule staff can work with you to find a mutually agreeable time. Next Tuesday the 9th marks the end of the 1st quarter of the school year and report cards will be sent out the following week.

Best,

Sarah Headley-Boyd

Dear CHS Richmond Parents/Guardians,

Happy Friday! You should have received a mid-quarter progress report via e-mail earlier this week. If you did not, please let me or Angela Miles ( [email protected] ) know so we can get you a copy. I also wanted to make you aware of a slight change in our morning procedures. As you know students are searched in the mornings and turn in phones and electronic devices to be locked away for the day. Instead of doing this in the classroom we will be doing this at the entrance of the school building. We will also be extending our homeroom time from 8:15 to 8:30. This will ensure students have enough time to prepare for the day and get something to eat if they would like before going to class. Students have been informed that these changes will begin on this Monday the 18th. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

Best,

Sarah
