♟️ KEEP THEIR MINDS SHARP BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS! ♟️

Our Back-to-School Chess Camp—our most popular camp of the year—is coming August 3–7 to The Fellowship in Katy!

Most campers enroll for the full day and love the complete experience, but families can choose the schedule that works best for them:

⭐ Full Day: 9:00 AM–4:00 PM
🌅 Morning Half Day: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
🌞 Afternoon Half Day: 1:00–4:00 PM

This is a true chess camp, with engaging instruction, guided games, skill-based groups, and an end-of-week tournament. But it isn’t “chess, chess, chess” all day! Kids can also enjoy:

🎨 Drawing, sketching, origami, Play-Doh, and crafts
⚡ STEM activities and Snap Circuits
🏃 Gym, playground, recess, and active breaks
🍎 Snack breaks and time to relax with friends

We provide materials and guidance so campers can confidently dabble, explore, build, and create—not simply sit around between chess sessions.

Kids of ALL ages and skill levels are welcome, from complete beginners to experienced tournament players. Children who want to play chess nearly all day can do that, too!

Our strong team includes experienced, kid-friendly instructors and active tournament players, led by Candidate Master Coach John Hendrick. Every camper will be challenged at an appropriate level while having a fantastic week.

📅 August 3–7

Chess night is coming back to Beans & Brews! ♟️☕

Our next casual Foundation Chess meetup is Friday, June 26 from 6:00–8:30 PM at Beans & Brews Coffee House in Richmond.

This is a relaxed, come-and-go chess night for kids, parents, beginners, experienced players, and anyone curious about chess. No pressure, no tournament stress — just friendly games, coffee, snacks, and a fun local chess community.

We had a great turnout last time with a mix of ages and skill levels, and we’d love to see even more new faces this time.

Drink coupons will be available for all chess newcomers!

Bring a chess set if you have one, but we’ll have some boards available.

♟️ Summer Chess Camp Is More Than Just Chess All Day! ♟️

Registration is picking up across our summer camp schedule, and our June camps are filling especially quickly. Now is a great time to reserve your child’s spot!

Foundation Chess camps welcome beginners, experienced tournament players, and everyone in between. Campers are grouped by age and skill level so they can learn at a comfortable pace, build confidence, and enjoy the game.

Each morning includes two chess learning sessions, and each afternoon includes two additional chess learning sessions. Families can choose the schedule that works best:

🌅 Morning Camp
☀️ Afternoon Camp
🏰 Full Day Camp

You do not have to sign up for the full day to enjoy a complete camp experience. Lunch options are available for full day campers.

Some kids happily play chess almost the entire day. Others enjoy mixing chess with creative learning stations and movement breaks. Depending on the camp, activities may include:

⚡ Electronics connector kits
🧱 LEGO and building blocks
🔬 STEM challenges
✈️ Paper airplanes
🦢 Origami
🎨 Crafts and creative projects
♟️ Chess puzzles, games, and tournaments

We also have access to a gym and playground for occasional movement breaks, while being mindful of the summer heat.

Whether your child is learning how the pieces move or preparing for their next tournament, our goal is to make camp fun, challenging, and memorable.
