Congratulations to the Virginia Junior Academy of Science on a wonderful 2026 symposium Hampden-Sydney College. It was a day full of scientific research with middle school and high school students interacting with faculty and scientists from across the state. The Virginia Academy of Science is proud to support this event and its participants.

Annual Membership Dues 04/15/2026

Register for the Spring Meeting and lock in your VAS membership before dues increase:
The 2026 Annual Spring Meeting will be held at Christopher Newport University on May 28, 2026. The early bird discount is available until April 24, 2026.

Also, membership rates will increase July 1, 2026, per the Council's vote on March 22, 2026, to contend with rising inflation.

Details on the new rates may be found using the link below, however here are a few highlights:
- Student membership will increase from $20 to $25
- Memberships purchased prior to July 1 are at the current rate and valid until July 1, 2027
- If you are interested in a life membership, consider purchasing before the increase. They are currently $500 until July 1 and will be $750 thereafter. With the new $75 yearly fee, the $500 life membership will pay for itself in just 7 years.

Annual Membership Dues VAS hasn't increased membership fees in many years. Due to inflation, the council voted on March 22, 2026, to raise dues starting on July 1st, 2026. If you renew your membership before that date, you will get the current rate for the 2026-2027 period.

VAS held its 2025 Fall Undergraduate Research meeting on Saturday Nov. 8th at Virginia State University. 10 students received grants for their research, and we look forward to presentations about this research at the Annual meeting this year at Christopher Newport University on May 28 (TBC).
