PRESCRIBED BURN AT ANGEL ISLAND STATE PARK TO RESUME AS EARLY AS WEDNESDAY

UPDATE: From Nixle (9/23/2026, 2:35PM):
Smoke from the prescribed burn at Angel Island State Park has drifted towards the East Bay and is currently visible in parts of Richmond. There is no emergency related to this operation.
California State Parks has informed that ignitions at Angel Island State Parks have been completed as of 2:15 PM. Residents can expect residual smoke to linger, but should be mostly tapering off.

EARLIER:

Prescribed burn operations on Angel Island State Park will resume as early as today Wednesday, September 23, until Thursday, September 24. This is related to the same prescribed burn operation that was paused earlier in the month.

Smoke might be visible to residents in Richmond. If noticed, please refrain from calling 9-1-1 to report smoke on the island, as it will impact emergency dispatch operations.

Note: All burning is dependent upon wildfire activity, resource availability, weather conditions, predicted smoke movement, and fuel moisture. Agencies will closely monitor conditions throughout the burn; if conditions are not conducive, the burn will be rescheduled.

Final Community Open House: AC Transit Macdonald Avenue and Cutting Boulevard Transit Improvement Project 🚎

AC Transit is proposing improvements to Macdonald Avenue and Cutting Boulevard, and we invite you to provide feedback on these proposals. Join us for a final open house to hear more about various upgrades aimed at enhancing the experience along both corridors for bus riders, drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike, including how the project would reallocate curb space. Let us know what you think.

The planned improvements will focus on Macdonald Avenue between Richmond Parkway and west of San Pablo Avenue, as well as Cutting Boulevard between I-580 and the El Cerrito del Norte BART Station. Learn more about these exciting transit developments and give us your input.
