This is the sustainable agroforestry project we will be launching in Cerca Carvajal.

Raising Haiti Foundation supports the "Tree Currency Program" in two rural communities. Farmer-members receive credits, or "tree currency", for tree planting and maintenance. With these credits, they can receive organic crop seed, tools, and agricultural training, among other services. The program is implemented by the Smallholder Farmers Alliance and promotes both sustainable agroforestry and community socioeconomic development.

Thank you so much for all the support you have given us over the past two weeks. This latest round of civil unrest is like nothing we have seen before. While Hinche has remained relatively free of violence, we have not escaped the barricades and road blocks that are paralyzing the country.
Gas is now over $30 a gallon; it costs us over $500 to fill our vehicles. Prices on durable goods have tripled and our birth center construction has slowed dramatically. Hinche is cut off from the rest of Haiti and food and water are scarce There is no way to move about the town. We have cancelled both classes and clinics to be safe, and because we have no extra fuel.

So far our staff is safe.

Please keep us and our beneficiaries in your heart as we devote ourselves even more fully to this important work. As always, it is the mothers and babies who are suffering the most under these conditions.
