The Kensington School The Kensington School’s mission is to integrate the Montessori philosophy with 21st century skills and cutting-edge educational approaches.

A child’s brain starts to develop even before they are born and from their first days through the time that they are ready to enter elementary school, their environment, their interactions with adults and with other children, and the activities that they participate in all offer opportunities for their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development to be nurtured. Whether it’s through grou

p or individual structured learning activities, the use of technology, Montessori approaches, or through play, every activity nurtures the unique potential that each child possesses and addresses the developmental needs of the “whole child.” Too many Early Childhood Development Centers do not take advantage of the nearly five years that they have to prepare children to enter Kindergarten ready to excel. The Kensington School keeps and maintains the best practices of the proven Montessori approach, but updates several of these Montessori elements for the 21st century. It integrates these Montessori approaches with the use of modern technology, a focus on 21st century skills such as engineering, an emphasis on 21st century approaches (critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity), and the use of cutting-edge child-centered educational practices. This approach will not only prepare students for success in school in the years ahead irrespective of where they attend school but also for the careers of the future.

Our Summer Camp students had a delicious hands-on learning experience at Russo’s Pizza Greatwood!

As part of our Kitchen Science theme, our mini chefs brought their learning to life by using real-world math and science skills while making their very own pizzas. From measuring ingredients to observing how dough, sauce, cheese, and heat work together, it was learning they could see, touch, and taste.

A special thank you to owner Ben Knapp, who is always such a wonderful host and teacher for our students.

If you haven’t tried Russo’s yet, our mini chefs can confirm it’s some of the best pizza around, especially when it’s made with their own little hands! 🍕

We recently celebrated a very special milestone at The Kensington School, our Pre-K Graduation.

Watching our students walk across the stage, receive their diplomas, and celebrate with family and friends was such a meaningful moment. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.

Our graduates are leaving Pre-K not only reading and doing Kindergarten-level math, but also with the school readiness skills that matter so much for success in today’s classroom. They have built confidence, independence, self-control, problem-solving skills, and the ability to learn and work with others, all of which are essential as they begin Kindergarten.

These children are more than academically prepared. They are growing into capable, curious, and resilient learners, and we feel honored to have been part of their journey.

Congratulations to our Pre-K graduates and their families. We can’t wait to see all that lies ahead for each of you. 💙💛

A huge thank you to all of the amazing dads, grandfathers, and father figures who joined us for Donuts with Dad! 🍩💙

The morning was filled with smiles, laughter, hugs, and special memories that our students will cherish for years to come. We are so grateful to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to celebrate with us and make the day so meaningful.
