It's time for a Testimonial Tuesday! 🎉

This testimony comes from an email we received last week from one of our former students who later became a junior assistant with JAC. Now he is getting his Masters in Aerospace Engineering. Thank you, Calvin, for your thoughtful words and high praise! We are thrilled to hear you're thriving. Keep dancing and shooting for the stars!❤️🚀💫

"This October, my friend and I started taking Ballroom dance classes, as I never forgot about my time at Cotillion, the joy dancing brought me, and the sense of community. We have been taking classes every week, and have learned so much! For the competition, we danced the Waltz, but we have learned many others, the Tango, Foxtrot, Swing, and Salsa! Since I learned all these dances at Cotillion, it was so easy to pick them back up again and truly appreciate everything that I learned.

The program you all offer is truly one of a kind, and I know it has changed the lives of many people. I always tell my friends about the fun I had and how privileged I was to be in Cotillion for many years! I will never forget the kindness of the team, the fun memories, and the dances we learned. The impact it had on me is immeasurable, and I hope you all know the immense positive influence it has on everyone. Thank you for all that you do for the community and for the next generation. Y'all are helping to support and raise wonderful people who will help bring light into the world!

I will always keep Cotillion in my heart and never forget how it changed me. It instilled in me a love of ballroom dancing and a commitment to being the best person I can be!" ~Calvin G.

It’s not too late! The season starts in mid-September and will be here before we know it.

We wanted to let you know that we still have limited spots available for boys in all grades and groups, and a growing list of girls on our waiting lists that would love the opportunity to attend as well! Thank you Richmond magazine and Laura Anders Lee for the opportunity to share my advice in this month’s parenting column about the lost art of communicating. Such an important skill for our young people to master! Junior Assembly Cotillion can help. 😉

Honored for JAC to volunteer year after year with PRIMETIME RVA at ! Thank you Amy Eberhardt and for including us. PRIMETIME RVA is a specially designed competition to empower 5th grade students to be go-getters, decision makers, creators, self-starters, and dreamers. The goal is to equip life-ready leaders with the soft skills needed to thrive outside their school walls.

This year, 50 top students from Greenwood competed in four competitions, and JAC was proud to volunteer and judge three of these competitions: Work the Room, Shark Tank and the 4 finalists TED Talks. This idea started at Greenwood after Covid, where their incredible staff and teachers noticed that there was a real need for durable skills development among their students. Tonight we were most impressed by the students’ communication skills, ability to think on their feet, creativity and confidence. Not easy skills for young people at this age, but they are wise beyond their years!

Our only wish is that all schools would have such a worthy and important competition for their students to master such important, lifelong skills like Greenwood Elementary has done! Well done students, and congrats to the finalists and winner! 🥇👏🏼👏🏼

Parents of rising 6th & 7th grade cotillion girls -

We are so excited to start our 82nd cotillion season in September! If you're needing short white gloves for your daughter to wear to cotillion (required for all 6th and 7th grade girls), we can help! As a convenience to our cotillion families, we sell short white gloves and will hold three glove sales this summer.

Please see below for the dates, times and address and mark your calendars accordingly to drop by one of them, or send a friend to do so!

Glove Sale Dates & Times:
Sunday, June 14th 1-3pm
Thursday, July 16th 11am-1pm
Tuesday, August 18th 5-7pm

Location: check today's email for address info

Feel free to stop by anytime during these times to purchase 1 or 2 pair for your daughter. $12 per pair, and one size fits most. Cash or check payable to Junior Assembly Cotillion only. Girls are notorious for losing a glove, getting them dirty, etc. so we always recommend purchasing two pair to be safe; the quantity purchased is completely up to you!

These are the only three glove sales we will have before cotillion starts in early September, so please make every effort to attend one...or send a friend. Gloves will not be sold at any of the dances.

Cotillion will be here before we know it. We are looking forward to having your daughters attend this season!

Leadership looks good on them. ✨

At our recent Helper Leadership Summit, our rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade Junior Assistants stepped up in the best way — collaborating in teams to dream up fabulous themes 🎭, curate popular music 🎶, refine manners & life skills lessons 🤩, and even share dances they’d love to do!💃

Then came the presentations to the entire group… and wow! The creativity. The confidence. The thoughtfulness. 👏👏 Prizes were given. ☕️🍫🍬Fun was had. 🎉

We are so grateful for their insight, initiative, and heart. These young leaders are not only helping to shape our upcoming 82nd season — they are shaping the culture of JAC. 💪🏼

We are beyond thrilled to have them as such a special part of our JAC family. The future is bright! ✨
