As promised, here is pt.2 of our Wizard of Oz Scavenger Hunt in the Historic Richmond Depot District!!

Trademark Construction (Tornado): Oh no, a tornado has hit Kansas… or in this case Richmond! Who do you call? No, not Ghostbusters, Trademark Construction! We learned about all of the hard work Trademark puts into their projects, and researched some of their new work. There is no doubt they could build Dorothy’s house by the time she gets back to Kansas! Thanks for having us!

The Two Sisters: Books and More (Scarecrow): Our next stop was to help the scarecrow find his brain! We searched high and low, but one clue lead us to our stop. We needed to find a place filled with imagination, curiosity, education, and books to fuel our brains. There was no better place to land, than at The Two Sisters: Books and More! Thank you for having us!

Ullery's Homemade Ice-Cream (Tin Man): The Tin Man is searching for his heart, and let’s be honest, what is the true way to everyone’s heart? ICE CREAM! Of course we had to go to the best ice cream shop in town, and found ourselves at Ullery’s! Thank you to Tammy and the staff members for creating a memorable experience of finding the real Tin Man. Thank you for having us!

Retro Rush Arcade LLC (Wizard): Our last stop was to find The Wizard. We headed to a place where we knew we could be in control of the game, like how Dorothy believes the Wizard is in control of Oz! We took a journey to Retro Rush Arcade, and found the Wizard! With so many different activities and games to play our individuals had fun exploring all the different options they had to offer. Thank you for having us!

This was an amazing experience, and a great chance to explore the Depot District! Again, thank you to ALL businesses who participated in this trip. We appreciate you!

Abilities is looking for a dependable, compassionate person to join our Residential Team!

HHA or CNA experience is preferred!

💰 Starting Pay: $20/hour

2nd Shift Schedule:
Tuesday: 4 PM–10 PM
Wednesday: 4 PM–10 PM
Thursday: 4 PM–10 PM
Friday: 4 PM–10 PM
Saturday: 8 AM–8 PM

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

This position works directly with individuals with disabilities in their residential home, helping them live as safely and independently as possible.

Responsibilities may include assisting with daily living skills, personal care, meals and meal preparation, medications, household tasks, community outings, transportation, appointments, documentation, and providing companionship and support.

We’re looking for someone who is dependable, patient, caring, and ready to make a difference. Our individuals deserve staff who will show up, get involved, and help them live their best lives!

September is now over and that means we say goodbye to our month of Wizard of Oz. Before the month ended, we took a trip around the Historic Richmond Depot District to participate in our Wizard of Oz/Depot Scavenger Hunt! Let’s take a look at part 1 of our stops!!

LisaCakes LLC (Lollipop Kid): Our stop to find the Lollipop Kid, or in this case the Cake Pop Kid, lead us to Lisa Cakes! On our journey, we learned about all the delicious treats they have to offer and history about the shop. Thank you for having us!

Oblivion Cinema & Arts (Glinda): Our second stop was to find Glinda! A place where you get your sparkle and creativity surrounds you. There are so many cool art pieces, supplies, and movies we could have stayed forever. Thank you for having us!

Paint the Towne (Ruby Red Slippers): Our third stop was to find our ruby red slippers! If you didn’t know, our art department was previously located in the back of Paint the Towne, so we had to click our heels three times to take us back to our old home. Located in a big ruby red brick building we found our slippers! We want to give a big shout out to Maria and her team at Paint the Towne for making our individuals their own sparkling pair of ruby red slippers!! Thank you for having us!

The Firehouse BBQ and Blues (Cowardly Lion): Our final search for the day was finding our courage, and what better place to find it than at Firehouse BBQ and Blues. A place built from courage, that showcases what strength it takes to be a firefighter. On our way to find the building we learned about the history and owners background and how the restaurant came about. Thanks for having us!!
