🎬 Join us during Homecoming & Reunion Weekend for a special screening of Women Laughing, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker, longtime New Yorker cartoonist and Earlham alumna Liza Donnelly Class of 1977.

📅 Thursday, October 15
⏰ 7 p.m.
📍 Wilkinson Theater, Runyan Center

For more than 40 years, Liza has been drawing for The New Yorker. In Women Laughing, she explores the history, humor and creative journeys of women cartoonists through conversations, drawings and plenty of laughter.

Following the screening, Liza will join us for a Q&A about the film, her work and the creative journey behind it, moderated by Maggie Thomas, associate dean of social sciences and professor of psychology.

Come celebrate an Earlham alumna, hear the stories behind the cartoons and spend an evening laughing and learning together.

Today we’re celebrating two people whose impact on Earlham spans decades!

Congratulations to Brent Smith and Nancy Taylor, recipients of the 2026 Distinguished Service Award. 🏆

From teaching and mentoring students, to building programs, leading departments, shaping experiential learning and taking Earlham students around the world, Brent and Nancy have dedicated their careers to helping students learn by doing, and seeing the world beyond the classroom. 😍

Homecoming is just a few weeks away! 🎉

On Friday, Oct. 16, 2025, we honor Earlham alumni whose leadership, service, achievements and athletic accomplishments reflect the very best of the Earlham community.

This year’s Outstanding Young Alumni Award goes to Sally Abed, Class of 2015. From her days studying economics and political science at Earlham to her work as a community organizer and elected leader in Haifa, Sally has carried her commitment to civic engagement and creating meaningful change far beyond campus.

We’re proud to celebrate the impact she continues to make and to welcome her back to Earlham this fall as part of Homecoming & Reunion Weekend.

Your reunion committee (Lindsey, Stacie, Lydia, Katrina, and Lauren) has been working behind the scenes, and they are so excited for what they have planned for your 20th Earlham Reunion!

For over two decades, Nick Johnson has dedicated his life to Earlham College as a student-athlete, coach and now Athletic Director. Those years did not come without trials. He navigated the loss of his uncle and father while he was a student-athlete. During his time as a head coach for Earlham’s head football coach, his wife, who was also a student-athlete and coach at the school, was fighting illnesses. Yet he continued to show up for his family, his staff and his players despite everything he went through.

His story is one of resilience and inspiration 🖤

Tickets are still available for the next event in Earlham College's Presidential Lecture Series featuring former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.

Holder is one of the foremost voices in American law and policy today. As the 82nd Attorney General under President Barack Obama and the first African American to hold the position, he broke boundaries with his progressive leadership and crucial influence on criminal justice in the United States.

The event will be moderated by Sunu Chandy, a civil rights attorney, poet and Earlham graduate from the Class of 1994.

Chandy is currently a Senior Advisor with Democracy Forward, and on the board of the Transgender Law Center. Chandy has been named one of the Washington Blade’s Q***r Women of Washington.
