The title is "The Ethical Importance of Counselor Self-Care"
We will explore ways that life events can affect our current functioning in our professional roles.

Life events happen to everyone. Even when they don't threaten our overall capacity to perform, they can have an impact on certain aspects of our functioning, making it more challenging to be fully present for all and able to address the wide range of needs of those we are serving. We will explore ways to identify when we may need to prioritize self-care a bit more than we might be, and ways that can help us remain at or return to peak performance.

Department alums Karla Helbert, Jennifer Jurlando, and Kim Mondezie will share experiences of working through challenging life situations that affected work life, family, and personal well-being, and the steps they engaged in to care for themselves and maintain their presence with those they were serving in professional capacity.

Please come to listen, think, share, and brainstorm together. We will break into smaller groups for a portion of the session to facilitate open sharing and brainstorming.

HealthProfessions Engage with VCU Alumni to reconnect with former classmates; network through geographic, academic and shared interest groups; access benefits and resources; and read alumni and university publications.
