Today, on School Custodian Appreciation Day, we want to take a moment to celebrate two very special people who are truly at the heart of our MKA family—Robin and Homer.
Our MKA custodians do so much more than keep our building clean and running smoothly. They literally help hold this building—and all of us in it—together every single day. Their work is an essential part of creating a safe, welcoming, positive environment where our students can learn, grow, and succeed.
Robin and Homer have a special way of connecting with our students. They encourage them, greet them, listen to them, build relationships with them, and make them feel seen and cared for. Those everyday interactions may seem small, but they make a big difference in the lives of our students and in the culture of our school.
And then there’s the two of them together! Robin keeps us laughing with her wonderful antics, while Homer keeps Robin’s antics in check with his quiet sense of humor and steady presence. They truly are a dynamic duo—not only as our MKA custodians, but as husband and wife.
Robin and Homer, thank you for everything you do, including all the things people may not always notice. Thank you for your hard work, your kindness, your humor, your patience, and the relationships you build with our students and staff. We are incredibly grateful for you both, and MKA is a better place because you are here.
