Medical laboratory scientists have been trained at the Medical College of Virginia Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University since 1927.
In 1967 the program was expanded to include graduate level advanced training.

We are happy to announce that we have a new guaranteed admissions process for current VCU students seeking admission into our MLS undergraduate program. Students applying to the MLS undergraduate program will be guaranteed admission if the following criteria are met:
VCU GPA: > 3.5 (greater than or equal to 3.5)
Completion of CLLS 201 with a passing grade (P)
Completion of all prerequisites before the start of the MLS program
Students applying through this option will be required to complete the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences application, which includes a brief essay explaining their interest in entering the profession of medical laboratory sciences. Students who meet the above criteria will not be required to interview with an MLS faculty member. Additionally, letters of recommendation are waived.

As part of Black History Month, we are honoring the efforts of the trailblazing women who trained at St. Philip School of Nursing - an all-Black, all-female nursing school. Many of the graduates went on to serve in high-demand nursing roles across the country and overseas. Joins us for "Our St. Philip Experience," on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at noon. Hear from former chaplain, Rev. Dr. Harold Pinkston and Ms. Virginia Roane, a St. Philip graduate. Other St. Philip nursing alumnae also will be present to share their experiences about their role in VCU's history.
