Sending out a MEGA congrats to Karmen Garcia, who was selected as the winner of the Outstanding CED 450 Clinical Student award for Spring 2026. Nominated by her clinical educator, Karmen showed great leadership and hard work in all she did this Spring and we are so proud of her! Keep up the great work.

Our Associate Professor, Dr. Charlie Hughes, is one of this year’s cohort members of EKU’s Provost Faculty Internship!
This program provides executive leadership training for professors and seeks to foster higher-education leadership skills. Here is just a little bit about Dr. Hughes’ plan for his involvement in the program:

He will be focusing on faculty teaching support, mainly by developing an “open classroom” model here at EKU. In this model, course instructors can open their classrooms to colleagues to observe a variety of teaching and learning strategies. Many academic institutions are using this model such as Vanderbilt and Northern Illinois, and Dr. Hughes is excited to lean into this project during the ’26-’27 academic year.

The Campus Beautiful truly earns its name during the fall. Not just because of the colors you'll see all around, but the friends reuniting for the first time in months. There is a positive, strong energy on campus that we all look forward to, and are excited for you to be a part of it!

Beyond the community, support, and care for students, there is something for everyone on campus. If you venture off campus, you might find beauty in nature like at the Pinnacles of Berea, take a deep breath, and realize you’re home. Back in your dorm, the people you spend your days with turn from peers to friends, and you never know who you might meet next on the campus beautiful.
