A Message from Our Founder
I spent 28 years in the Navy. I know what the water can do for a person, and I know what happens when a service member comes home and can't find their crew.

That's why VetsBoats exists. We don't run a charity outing. We put veterans back in a role — steering, trimming, working lines, being counted on by the people next to them. Competence returns first. Then connection. Then purpose.

This November 11 we're hosting our first Veterans Day Gala at the St. Francis Yacht Club to underwrite a full year of that work. I'd like you to be part of it.

We're honored to announce our Guest of Honor for the VetsBoats Veterans Day Gala.

Admiral John Michael Richardson, U.S. Navy (Ret.), served as the 31st Chief of Naval Operations. On November 11 he joins us at the St. Francis Yacht Club for an evening supporting veterans' healing, camaraderie and renewed purpose.

He'll be joined by Honorary Chairman Vito Bialla, Master of Ceremonies Joe Vazquez, and the Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard.

For many veterans the hardest part isn't the deployment. It's the quiet that comes after it.

VetsBoats exists for that quiet. We take veterans, first responders and their families out on San Francisco Bay at no cost — hands on the wheel, sails up, a crew around them. 88% report a positive shift in mental well-being, and 90% say they found a sense of camaraderie and belonging they had been missing.

On November 11 — Veterans Day — we're gathering at the St. Francis Yacht Club to fund a full year of it.

One night on Veterans Day underwrites a full year of no-cost programs. Every ticket, every table, every sponsorship and every paddle raised in that room becomes sail days on San Francisco Bay next season. At approximately $100 to put one Veteran on the water, a table of eight is a season of Saturdays for someone who needs one.

If November will not work, consider helping by underwriting the event. At $100 per Veteran, the arithmetic of a gift is simple and the impact is tremendous.

We're honored to have our founder presenting “Restoring Purpose on Water” at the PVASummit + EXPO, based on his work at VetsBoats. This is where clinicians, researchers, and innovators come together to improve outcomes for veterans and people living with SCI/D, , and .

This work matters because VetsBoats aims to advance and advocate for independent living and recreation, employment skills and community reintegration, which feels especially meaningful as Paralyzed Veterans of America celebrates 80 years advancing Veteran healthcare.

The ocean doesn’t always give you calm seas. Neither does life after service.
PTSD can feel like being caught in rough water—unpredictable, exhausting, and difficult to navigate alone. But even in heavy seas, a crew can make the difference.
At VetsBoats, we use time on the water to create connection, purpose, and a place for veterans to breathe, reset, and be part of a crew again.
