Lee...Demerits...traitor, commited treason,Infamous not famous, Refused an opportunity to be a general in the US Army, at death an alein without citizenship. at the end of the Civil War, he was a war criminal on parole. ...actions were a disservice to Virginia in that when West Virginia was created Virginia lost electoral college votes that can never be retreived.
