Real feel 109°🥵🔥 but still not enough to stop the back-to-school fun!

We had such a great time at Malala Elementary’s Back-to-School Bash last Friday. One of the best parts about supporting our local schools is getting to see familiar faces as our Pre-K students become elementary schoolers. Watching our Ivybrook kiddos grow up is pretty special 💚

Thank you, Malala Elementary, for having us. Even the Texas heat couldn’t slow us down! ☀️

The learning environment at Ivybrook Academy is intentionally designed to teach.

Child-height shelves invite students to choose their own work. Defined areas for reading, building, and creating give children ownership of how they move through the classroom.

Every element is placed with purpose, designed to build independence, encourage focus, and support a child's ability to self-direct. When the environment does its job, children feel confident enough to take the lead in their own learning.

Is your child ready for preschool? Here is what readiness looks like.

Most parents focus on whether their child can sit still, follow directions perfectly, or separate without a single tear. While those milestones matter, they do not paint the full picture of early childhood development.

Here are a few true signs they may be ready:

‣ Interest in peers: They are beginning to show a genuine curiosity about other children.

‣ Basic communication: They can express their foundational needs through words, signs, or gestures.

‣ Emerging independence: They are starting to explore the world on their own terms, even in very small ways.

‣ Familiarity with rhythm: They have some experience following a daily routine, even a loose one at home.

If your child is not quite there yet, that is perfectly okay. Readiness is not a deadline. Every child arrives on their own unique timeline, and a thoughtful preschool environment is designed to meet them exactly where they are.

Preschool for toddlers at Ivybrook Academy looks like this.

For our youngest learners, the work of preschool is sensory and physical. They are pouring water between containers, learning to put on their own shoes, and discovering that one tool makes a mark different from another.

Every later academic skill, from handwriting to mathematical reasoning, starts here, with the hands.

What a sweet way to close out the end of summer 🍦💚

Our End-of-Summer Ice Cream Social brought together Ivybrook families, children, and teachers to celebrate the last days of summer vacation and spend time together.

Thank you to our Ivybrook families and to the many members of our teaching team who joined us! Seeing our teachers and families spend time together outside of the classroom is such a special part of our school community.

We’re excited to host our very first Ivybrook Preview & First-Day Practice! This event is designed to help families feel more comfortable, confident, and connected before the new school year begins.

🗓️ Saturday, August 8
🕐 Session 1, 10-10:45 AM
🕐 Session 2, 11-11:45 AM
📍 Ivybrook Academy - Richmond, TX

Families may choose between two sessions. While this is a drop-in event, we encourage you to arrive at the beginning of your preferred session so your child can experience the full routine, including car lane procedures, classroom arrival, putting away belongings, a classroom activity, and morning circle time.

Not enrolled yet or interested in learning more about Ivybrook? New and prospective families are welcome to come meet our team and explore our Montessori- and Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool.
