May 12-18, 2019 is National Prevention Week. National Prevention Week is an annual health observance dedicated to increasing public awareness of, and action around, mental health and/or substance use disorders.
Each year, National Prevention Week includes daily themes to focus on major substance use and mental health topics. The theme of Thursday, May 16 is Preventing Youth To***co Use.

On May 31st the World Health Organization (WHO) & global partners celebrate World No To***co Day (WNTD). The annual campaign raises awareness on the harmful and deadly effects of to***co use and second-hand smoke exposure, and is an opportunity to discourage the use of to***co in any form.

The focus of WNTD 2019 is on "to***co and lung health." The campaign will increase awareness on the negative impact that to***co has on people’s lung health, from cancer to chronic respiratory disease - and the fundamental role lungs play for the health and well-being of all people.
