Our AMAZING Austin Elementary Cosmic Choir performed the National Anthem last night at Minute Maid Park, ensuring an Astros win!! 😊
Thank you to Tara Simpson-Lepler for her tireless assistance all year long. Your generosity simply amazes me!
Thank you to the remarkable Julie Lowrey Cantu for always being there with a smile and supporting us! We love you Julie Cantu!
Words truly cannot express how blessed and humbled I am to have been a part of this group for the past 11 years. I loved watching our kiddos grow up and see them working towards a goal. Nothing brings a group together more than singing together!
Thank you Austin parents for trusting me with your babies, for being patient with endless texts, being flexible and supportive in everything. You have always been so generous and kind.
Thank you Austin students for being so absolutely amazing! You have worked your little tails off, learned how to support each other and take big risks that have paid off. This music mama will always be so proud of you! Like I told you before, just because we won't be together, you will always be in my heart!❤️ Please, please, please keep singing and remember how very much you are loved!
Thank you Austin Elementary!
Love, Ms. Brown ❤️❤️

Soooo proud of my 5th graders that sang tonight at LCISD’s inaugural “Journey Through the Arts” performance at FBCo’s Epicenter! These kids had a looong day- filled with a bunch of “hurry up and wait”, but they handled it like champs! We played board games, had our own tailgate party and laughed at Ms. Brown’s selfie “skills” in the elevator! It was a GREAT day!!! Our sweet kiddos opened the entire show! So proud of these choir babies!! , , LCISDpva

Dear Austin Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I will not be returning to Austin next year. I will be moving to Terrell Elementary as their music teacher. I did not make this decision lightly; but, I have always tried to teach my own children that when God presents you with an opportunity, you need to be obedient and take it.
Parents, I cannot thank you enough for entrusting me with your children. I have always tried to look at my position as a sacred task. I have been truly blessed by getting to know all of you and your families.
Students, you are simply one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given. I have been so fortunate to watch you all grow and mature. Your sweet faces, beautiful smiles and precious voices have warmed my heart on even the darkest of days.
Austin will always hold a special place in my heart. My own children attended Austin. As a parent, I have always been thankful for the foundation that Austin gave them. Austin is truly a very special place; it’s family. We’ve had numerous visitors comment on how you can “feel the difference” when you walk in the door.
Thank you all so very much for being “the difference” for me and my family. I will treasure you always. Many blessings to all of you.
Gratefully yours,
Laura Brown
p.s. I live about 2 minutes from Austin, so I will still be seeing you at Randalls. 😊

Austin Family,
I am filled with a whirlwind of emotions. The journey of teaching Physical Education at Austin Elementary has been more than just a career; it has been a profound chapter of my life, filled with growth, challenges, and immeasurable rewards. For 27 years, this school has been my second home, a place where I hoped to inspire a spark for lifelong fitness, teamwork, and perseverance in the hearts of my students.
Reflecting on the years, I am reminded of the countless games, the laughter, the victories, and even the defeats. Each one taught us something valuable. We learned that winning isn't everything, but making the effort to win is. I watched as many students overcame personal challenges, pushed beyond limits, and discovered strengths they didn’t know they had. These moments were not just about physical education; they were life lessons in disguise. I hope these lessons stay with them, as the memories of their determination and spirit will forever stay with me.
As I step into this next chapter of my career, I carry with me the joy of having been part of your lives. I carry forward the relationships we've built and the knowledge that I've played a part in guiding young individuals toward a healthier, more active lifestyle. Leaving is bittersweet, but I take solace in knowing that the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal excellence we've nurtured here will continue to flourish in each of them.
Thank you all for the memories, for the challenges that made us stronger, and for the endless support. As I say goodbye to this chapter, I look forward to the adventures that are before me at Terrell Elementary, with the understanding that the lessons learned and shared here will always be a part of who I am.
With love and gratitude,
Coach Julie Cantu
