Is my preschooler ready for kindergarten? It’s a question a lot of parents start asking—and kindergarten readiness is about so much more than knowing ABCs and 123s.

Through our Skill Builders Preschool Program, children practice the everyday skills that help prepare them for that next big step, including independence, communication, listening, routines and social-emotional skills.

Small steps now can help build BIG confidence for what comes next!

Should I keep my child home today?

We know mornings can be hectic, and sometimes it’s hard to tell when a little one needs a day at home. To help keep all of our Early Steps children and staff healthy, please keep your child home if they are experiencing symptoms such as a fever over 100°, vomiting or diarrhea, concerning rashes, severe coughing, difficulty breathing, or other signs of a contagious illness.

If your child has been exposed to or diagnosed with a contagious illness, please keep them home and let the Center know.

When in doubt, reach out! We’re always happy to help you understand our sick policy and determine the best next step.

When little ones build, create, pretend and explore, they’re doing so much more than having fun. Play helps children develop problem-solving skills, communication, creativity and important social skills they’ll use as they grow.

At Early Steps Learning Center, we believe some of the best learning happens when children are excited, curious and having FUN!

Did you know Early Steps offers an optional Christian Club for toddlers and older? 💛 Each week, children take part in a special 1-hour session following the "Discovering God Series" by Philip W. Rogers. We identify with the heart of this series' mission — shaping the lives of children by teaching them that they are a unique Creation made by a unique Creator.

It's just one of the ways we help nurture the whole child — mind, heart, and spirit.

Parent Tip of the Week:
Let your child struggle a little before jumping in to help.

Whether it's putting on a coat, stacking blocks, or working through a tricky puzzle piece, that moment of struggle is where real learning happens. Give them a few extra seconds to problem-solve on their own before stepping in — it builds confidence, patience, and independence that carries into the classroom (and life!).

Our teachers use this same approach every day, offering guidance instead of quick fixes, so children learn to trust their own abilities. 💛
