🎃 HEAD START AWARENESS MONTH — TRY IT TOGETHER!

📖 Let’s make up a story!

Grab a few old magazines, newspapers, or pictures and cut out 5–6 random pictures.

Take turns choosing a picture and adding it to your story!

🤔 “Once upon a time…”
🦖 “A dinosaur found…”
🍕 “Then they decided to…”

Let your child’s imagination take over! 😂

✨ What your child is practicing: language, creativity, imagination, listening, and storytelling.

These are the same kinds of skills children practice every day through play and learning at Head Start!

🍎✨ Celebrating our amazing MOCA Head Start teachers on World Teacher’s Day!

Every day, our teachers create safe, welcoming spaces where children feel supported, encouraged, and excited to learn. Through patience, creativity, and care, they help our little learners build confidence, discover new skills, and grow each day.

Thank you to our incredible teachers for all you do for the children and families we serve. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom! 💛

October is Head Start Awareness Month! 💙

At Missouri Ozarks Community Action, we’re proud to support children and families through Head Start. Our programs help young children build the skills, confidence, and curiosity they need for a strong start in school and in life.

This month, we celebrate the families, educators, staff, and community partners who make a lasting difference every day. Together, we’re strengthening communities, encouraging self-reliance, and inspiring hope—one child and one family at a time.

💙 Block Fund Spotlight! 💙

We’re excited to share another wonderful recipient of the Lebanon Optimist Club’s Block Fund!

📚 MOCA Head Start received support through the Block Fund to help continue providing important resources and opportunities for local children and families.

Today, we were also grateful to welcome Stephanie Shockley with MOCA Head Start as our guest speaker! Stephanie shared more about the work Head Start is doing in our community and the difference this funding can make.

We’re proud to support programs that help children learn, grow, and build a strong foundation for the future. Investing in our kids is one of the best ways we can make a difference in our community! 💙

Thank you, Stephanie, for joining us and for all that MOCA Head Start does for local families!

Optimism in action. Investing in our youth. Building a brighter future. 🌟

Is your child ready for a place where they can learn, make friends, and build a little more confidence every week? Missouri Ozarks Community Action is accepting applications for Head Start and Early Head Start right now.

Head Start serves children ages 3 to 5, and Early Head Start serves children from birth to age 3. For Head Start, a child needs to be 3 years old by July 31st to apply for the upcoming school year.

Our teachers get to know each child and each family, so children try new things, feel supported, and head toward kindergarten excited about what comes next.

We've also added more options for families this year. The St. James Center is open again, and the Rolla Center now has a full-day, full-year class.

Learn more and start an application at sites.google.com/mocacaa.org/mocaheadstart/home or by scanning the QR Code on the flyer below!

Happy Grandparents Day from Missouri Ozarks Community Action Head Start! 💙

Today, we celebrate the grandparents and special loved ones who offer so much love, encouragement, guidance, and support to the children in our lives.

We also recognize the many grandparents who are raising their grandchildren and stepping into a parenting role with strength, patience, and care. Your dedication makes a lasting difference, and we are honored to partner with you as part of our MOCA Head Start family.

Thank you for all you do to help children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn and grow. 🌟
