AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) is an elective class offered to students who would like to prepare for entrance into a four-year university or post-secondary program. The curriculum features writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading, note-taking and college/career activities. Senior year is specifically dedicated to solidifying post-secondary plans.

This Saturday, the Hanford Math Team took on the best in the state at the Washington State Math Competition (WSMC) at Central Washington University!
Competing in challenging events like Long Problem, Team Topical, and Knowdown, our Falcons showed grit, teamwork, and some serious mathematical firepower.
A huge shoutout to Zayd Rahman (11th grade) for an outstanding performance—2nd place in Knowdown at the state level!
We’re proud of every student who stepped up to compete and represent Hanford so well. Thank you to all who helped make this opportunity possible.

Huge congratulations to the Hanford Sports Medicine Anatomage Team on qualifying for the NATIONAL COMPETITION!
After an outstanding performance at the state level, this talented group has earned the opportunity to compete among the very best in the country.
Team Members:
Sanah Khan, AJ Hokanson, Cade Reed, and Skye Mitchell
The team will travel to Anatomage Headquarters in Santa Clara, California on May 28th, where they’ll go head-to-head with the top 50 teams in the nation in this elite, hands-on anatomy and medical science competition.
We’re incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence—what an amazing accomplishment representing Hanford on the national stage!

Hanford High School students had an outstanding showing at the Mid-Columbia Science and Engineering Fair, earning top honors and national-level recognition!
🏆 Top Honors
• Prayrona Choudhury – Grand Prize (Senior Division)
➤ Advances to compete at the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF)
➤ Also earned multiple additional honors, including: NASA, the American Nuclear Society, and the Stockholm Junior Regional Water Prize
• Samuel Wang – 1st Place (9th Grade Division)
➤ Selected to attend ISEF as an observer
➤ Earned multiple additional honors, including: Outstanding Health Physics Project and GENIUS Olympiad selection

Huge congratulations to our Hanford High School Jazz Bands for an outstanding performance at the Mead Jazz Festival!

After sitting outside the top 3 in prelims, this group turned it up in finals and surged past the competition to take the top overall honor. That’s grit, talent, and clutch performance when it matters most.

We’re proud of our Falcons for representing Hanford at this week’s Tri-Cities Youth & Justice Forum!
Students from Mr. Trevor Fehrenbacher’s Business & Personal Law class had the opportunity to connect with professionals from across the justice system, gaining real-world insight into careers in law, law enforcement, and beyond.
A special shoutout to our own School Resource Officer, Officer Bryan Field, who served as a presenter—sharing how drone technology is changing the landscape of modern policing. 🚁
Experiences like this bring learning to life and help our students see what’s possible after high school.

KADLEC INTERNSHIP INFO SESSIONS:
March 19 @ RHS Library, 5:30-7:30 PM
March 24 @ HHS Commons, 5:30-7:30 PM
Applications will be given to students that attend the meeting.
Parent/guardian also expected to attend (see Mr. Sites if this creates a barrier).
It is a 90 hour commitment for one semester the following school year.
If a student has any after school commitments, they would need to choose the internship for the semester that does not have any schedule conflicts.
