🎉 CONGRATULATIONS!!! 🎉

Well done to Claira (9th grader), a studio member who competed in the Spring Awards Competition this past weekend. Claira was awarded 3rd place🥉in the 9-10th grade group for her performance of Intermezzo No. 1 by Manuel Ponce. All of the students in this group were impressive, well-prepared, and gave really great performances!

Well done to Grace (12th grader), a studio member who competed in the Spring Awards Competition this past weekend. Grace was awarded 3rd place🥉in the 11-12th grade group for her performance of “The Lark” by Glinka/Balakirev. This was a competitive group and all of the students were impressive, well-prepared, and gave really great performances!

Very enjoyable 3 days of adjudicating at St. Martins University for the Olympia Music Teachers Association. What a wonderful venue, with welcoming teacher colleagues, and so many eager-to-learn students! I always come back from adjudicating work brimming with new perspectives and new repertoire ideas to bring to my own studio! Thanks for putting on such a unique and worthwhile program for students in our state.

WSMTA ADJUDICIATIONS 2026

Just a few of the studio members with their certificates after a wonderful adjudication last week with Visiting Artist, Dr. Del Parkinson from Boise State University.

In all, 20 studio members participated this year. Each played two contrasting pieces and then got to work with the Visiting Artist. It’s like a mini-lesson with another teacher!
