Temporary Bus Route Detour – Bus 20-86
Starting Monday August 17th.
Due to road construction at Aero Smith and Carrier Roads near the industrial park area on Old Hwy 49, Bus 20-86 will need to temporarily adjust its route. City of Richland officials expect the construction to last approximately four weeks.
This construction will affect our ability to operate Bus 20-86 exactly as we have been doing so far this school year. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we work through this temporary change.
Morning Route:
The morning route will be adjusted slightly. The first students picked up will be from the Johnny Cleveland Mobile Home Community, with pickups beginning around 6:15–6:25 a.m. The bus will then continue to the Bud Street area and the blocks of James Street and Neely Street. Students in this area should expect a new pickup time around 10-20 minutes later than normal.
Afternoon Route – Important Change for K–6 Students:
The biggest change will be in the afternoon, particularly for K–6 students who live in the Johnny Cleveland Mobile Home Community.
These K–6 students will remain on Bus 20-86 after school dismissal and ride to the high school. Once the high school is dismissed, the bus will leave and drop off the Johnny Cleveland students first.
All K–12 students living in the Johnny Cleveland Mobile Home Community are expected to arrive home at approximately 3:15–3:20 p.m. After those students are dropped off, the bus will continue with the remaining high school student drop-offs in the new order.
K–6 students who do not live in the Johnny Cleveland Mobile Home Community should not experience a change in their afternoon drop-off times.
This is a temporary adjustment that will remain in place while the construction is underway. Once the road construction is completed and the normal route can safely be restored, Bus 20-86 will return to its regular routing.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we work to keep our students transported safely and as close to their normal schedules as possible.
