Prepare for a cuteness overload !! ❤️❤️

I know that many of you are anxiously wondering when Central Christian Childcare will be open and able to care for your child again. Know that those of us on staff at Central Church wonder that too. Like many of you, we are getting tired of sheltering-in-place. We miss ministry. We miss having your kids around. We do what we do because we love it, and are anxious to get back to it.

That said, the decision of when to open is not entirely ours to make. We cannot safely open the childcare while the church is closed. We are anxiously awaiting permission from the Governor and our Bishop to open. Even as I say that I am thankful, both for the sake of the staff and your children, that we are not open now. We have looked into the challenges around obtaining equipment, cleaning materials and basic food items and do not believe we could readily obtain what we need to safely operate at this time. We hope that will change in the next few weeks.

We are monitoring all TV announcements from the Governor and communicating regularly with our Bishop and will let you know as soon as we receive permission to open. We hope we will receive that permission sooner rather than later and will let you know as soon as we know.

Once we have word that we will be able to open it will take us a few days to obtain the needed supplies, put in place the proper procedures to assure everyone’s safety, and have staff trained and in place. This means that we should be able to give you a week’s notice.

Since we are a state licensed daycare it is likely that when we come back we will have to operate differently for a time. It appears likely that there will be new policies around class size, safety and health procedures, and other things we have not even anticipated yet. We will communicate those to you when we know what they are.

We know that some of you may still be working from home when we open and have legitimate concerns about the risk of allowing your child to attend a public day care in this time. You have asked about the possibility of paying a small fee to retain your child’s place and have them return in the Fall. We understand this desire and are giving careful consideration to allowing this. We will let you know as soon as a decision has been made.

I apologize for not being able to provide concrete answers to your questions, but thought I would let you know what we are thinking in the hope it will alleviate some of your concerns. As soon as we have clearer direction I will share it with you.

In the meantime, know that we are praying for you and your children and look forward to the time we can be together again.
