Exciting News for Pacific Crest Online Academy!

We’re thrilled to announce that Pacific Crest Online Academy (PCOA) has officially received multi-district provider approval from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI)!

This means that starting in the 2025–2026 school year, PCOA will be able to serve students in grades 6–12 across multiple school districts in Washington State, expanding access to high-quality, flexible online learning options.

After a thorough review process that began in October 2024, our team submitted an 83-page portfolio showcasing the excellence in course design, student support, and academic quality that Pacific Crest is known for. OSPI’s seal of approval reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff, and we couldn’t be more excited to continue growing and innovating for the benefit of students statewide.

"PCOA has had 5 years of incredible growth and success. This approval will empower us to reach more students in areas currently underserved by alternative learning options," said Paul Shaber, Principal of PCOA.

Our team is looking forward to partnering closely with OSPI to ensure that our students continue to receive the best online learning experience possible.

Students at River’s Edge High School have been gardening this trimester in a project titled “Art through Gardening”. They have started seedlings in our greenhouse, transplanted to their own garden boxes around the school, and have enough to share with the community.

A few students came up with the idea of a community plant sale. The sale will be Friday, May 30th from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at River’s Edge - 975 Gillespie in Richland! They would love your donation for the plants they have grown. All proceeds will go to next year’s gardening experience.

Storybook Science (a Science and English Project-Based Learning class) dropped their eggs today! Students spent the week learning about how forces impact an egg as it splats against the ground - and then designing devices to keep the eggs safe! Next up - learning about the forces that hold our universe together.
