Cleaning out an empty terrarium after a pet has passed is never easy, and it feels especially tough when it's for a class pet. My students will surely miss this little eight-legged friend when we're back next month. And as if one loss wasn't hard enough, I unfortunately said goodbye to two spiders today.

Wow, last night was something truly special. I was so honored to receive the 7th Grade Teacher of Impact award from the National Junior Honor Society at their yearly induction ceremony, presented by a former student. Hearing their heartfelt essay read aloud was such a moving experience – definitely brought on some happy tears! These moments are absolutely priceless and serve as such a beautiful reminder that the work we do matters. Especially when the end of the year gets challenging, these are the moments that fuel me and remind me that each and every one of these students is worth it. So grateful. 😊

Even my pencil is exhausted by 7th-grade science! It’s seen the triumphs, the near-disasters, and the occasional existential question about the nature of matter. But through it all, it’s been a reliable tool. You gotta appreciate a pencil that can handle the pressure (both literally and figuratively!). Thanks, Ticonderoga, for helping me bring a little clarity to the beautiful chaos of middle school science.
