Today is Back-to-School Night, and we're excited to welcome students and families! From 4–6 PM today, stop by any of our buildings to meet your teachers—including one of our newest Hornets at RCIS, Mr. Oates! 🧡🐝

Mr. Oates is joining RCIS as our new 6th-grade writing teacher. A former UW-Richland student with family in the area, he's excited to give back to the community. He brings more than 12 years of teaching and work experience in China and is bilingual in Mandarin and English.

When he's not at school, you might find Mr. Oates working out at Symons, playing pickleball, gaming, studying Mandarin, or exploring something new!

Welcome to the Hornet family, Mr. Oates—we're glad you're here! 🧡🐝

📚 Teacher In-Service is in full swing! 🐝

While our students are enjoying these last few days of summer, our staff is busy preparing, learning, and getting ready to welcome them back!

Staff training has included CPR and other medical events, reunification training, educator effectiveness, IT training, building-specific training, and so much more. And in between all of that learning? Our staff is working hard to get classrooms, hallways, and learning spaces ready to welcome our students back.

We’re learning. We’re preparing. We’re collaborating. And we’re getting HORNET READY! 🐝. September 1 is coming… and RSD is excited to welcome our students back! 🧡🖤

🍎🍕 It's dinner time, but we all know someone who is already thinking about lunch tomorrow!

Good news, Hornets—the September school menus are now available! Take a peek and start planning those lunches. 🧡 https://www.richland.k12.wi.us/departments/food-service-menus.cfm

And a quick reminder for high school families: If your student uses the à la carte options, be sure to log in to Skyward and set their spending limit. These limits do not carry over from one school year to the next, so they need to be reset. You'll find step-by-step instructions for setting à la carte limits, along with Free & Reduced Meal information and forms, on our Food Service webpage:

Now...back to dinner. 😉🧡🐝

🧡🐝 One week from today, we'll welcome our Hornets back—and for some of our youngest, it will be their first day ever! That includes our incoming 4K students, who also have a new teacher to meet. Luckily, Samantha Salisbury knows a thing or two about being a Hornet!

A proud 2006 Richland Center graduate, Samantha is returning home after 15 years of teaching in a nearby district. Joining RSD is a true full-circle moment, and she's excited to bring her experience back to the community that helped shape her.

Samantha lives in Richland Center on a hobby farm with her husband, four children, and two dogs. Outside of school, she enjoys the outdoors, time at the family's seasonal campsite, cheering on her kids, baking, and traveling.

We're thrilled to have Samantha back—and can't wait to see her welcome our newest Hornets to 4K! 🧡🐝

🏃‍♀️➡️🏃‍♀️ You never realize how big a school campus is until you have to get from one side to the other in a hurry!

Our Athletic Training Department just got a new set of wheels—and we think Athletic Trainer Bri is pretty excited about it! 🧡🐝

The RCHS Athletic Booster Club recently donated a Polaris Ranger utility vehicle to help Bree get where she's needed around campus and at athletic events. Whether she's going from the football field to the soccer complex, hauling supplies, or getting to an event from the training room, this new ride will make it a whole lot easier to keep up with our busy athletic schedule.

A huge thank you to the RCHS Athletic Booster Club for making this possible, with a special shoutout to Vetesniks for their support in helping make the new vehicle a reality.

We have a feeling Bri is going to put a LOT of miles on this thing! 😄🧡🐝

🧡🐝 It's starting to look a lot like a school!

While work continues throughout the high school, the delivery and installation of our new furniture in late July was one of those moments when the space really started to feel ready for students.

The new tables and seating are designed with flexibility in mind, including height-adjustable tables that can be used in different classrooms and even different buildings as needs change.

There are still plenty of finishing touches happening, but we're getting closer every day to welcoming our students into these new spaces. We can't wait to see them filled with learning, collaboration, and a whole lot of Hornet energy! 🧡🐝

☀️ Today was a beautiful day to get out on the course—and RSD staff are getting back into the "swing" of things, too! 🏌️‍♂️🐝

As we get ready for another school year, we're excited to introduce you to some of the newest members of our Hornet family including Kyle Quinn is our new RCPS P.E. Teacher! 🎉

Kyle graduated from UW-Platteville in December 2025 and grew up in East Dubuque, Illinois. He now calls Richland Center home, where he lives with his childhood dog, Buddy. 🐶

When he's not at school, Kyle enjoys golfing, going for walks, and spending time with friends and family. Kyle is excited to begin this next chapter of his life with the Richland School District, and we're excited to have him here.

Welcome to the Hive, Kyle! We're glad you're here! 🧡🖤

⚽🧡 It’s a great day to be a Hornet… especially a soccer alum! 🖤

The annual Alumni Soccer Game brought Hornets from all generations back to the pitch to take on this year’s varsity squad—and what a fun way to kick off a new season!

One of the best parts of this tradition is seeing the generations of Hornets who return to play together. This year’s match-up featured several family groups, including one three-generation soccer family! 🥰⚽

Thank you to all of our soccer alumni who came back to play, cheer on the team, and keep this tradition going!

Now it’s time for the 2026 Hornets to get to work! 🐝⚽ The varsity squad opens the regular season Tuesday away against La Crosse Aquinas, and then they're back on the road Thursday at Mauston.

Let's get this season started! 🧡🖤

🎨🧡 What did our teachers do this summer? For the Rogers, it was a little bit of creating!

While they weren't in the classroom, Mr. Rogers and Mrs. Rogers—our high school and intermediate school art teachers—were putting their creativity to work all around Wisconsin and right here at home.

This summer, the two teamed up for artwork at Wisconsin festivals, brought their chalk art back to Kelly's Coffee House, added some color to the parking lot at the GRACE Walk, and created a permanent mural inside Foremost Farms USA right here in Richland Center.

We're pretty lucky to have teachers who don't just teach creativity—they live it, too! 🎨🐝
