Hi all! Mrs. H here! 🎨

RES art is now participating in the program Artsonia, which allows families to view students’ art portfolios virtually!

When students complete a project, I will upload a photo of their art to their Artsonia account, where it is viewable privately to just your family. With your permission, artwork can be published to the public school page.

If you find a piece of art particularly inspiring, you can order products with your child’s art printed on them! 20% of that profit is returned to our art program!!

Keep an eye out for an invite email; I will send them to your email on file!! ☀️

During April break this year, I painted a mural for the outdoor ice rink in Enosburg and it was finally hung! Keep your eye out for it if you are in the area!

How cute are these 2nd grade self portraits! We learned the basics of drawing a face and mixing colors to match our features!

1st graders are learning about art around the world! These dolls are made out of clothespins and inspired by Guatamalan worry dolls. The miniature dolls are traditionally made of corn husks and yarn. In Guatamala, they tell these dolls their worries, place them in their pillowcase, and they believe the dolls do the worrying for them overnight so they can sleep better.

Still life fun!
4th graders who didn’t go skiing today did a still life workshop in art with chalk pastel. I was impressed with EVERY. SINGLE. DRAWING!!!!
We practiced drawing from real life objects and I am so proud of the hard work and beautiful outcome.

3rd graders became bird experts in this collage project! We learned about Audubon’s bird guide paintings and created a “tunnel book” (a 3D diorama made entirely of paper) all about a bird. Students included real facts about their bird including its food, nest, habitat, and appearance.

Embracing the crazy, colorful, and weird!👩🏻‍🎤🎨👨‍🎤

4th graders learned about cubism and Pablo Picasso and created their own Cubist inspired self portrait. First they cut up 2 printed photos of themselves —one facing forward and one facing sideways. They combined the cut up pieces of both pictures so we could see them from the front and side at the same time! This became their reference photo for their drawing.
