🦅 Talk about perfect timing! 🦅

Last week, Minnesota DNR staff visited our 3rd graders for a special lesson on birding and using binoculars. Right in the middle of the lesson, nature gave us the ultimate surprise—two bald eagles landed right across the street! 🦅✨

We are so excited to partner with the DNR, as they will be visiting our school once a month all year long to lead hands-on nature and science lessons.

Our 5th-grade classes have mold! Our 5th graders recently launched an exciting science experiment to see what conditions make mold grow the fastest. They tested food scraps under all sorts of conditions in sealed plastic bags—heating them up, wetting them, keeping them in the dark, and even... giving them a quick lick! 🧪😮

Drop your best guess in the comments: Which condition do you think grew mold the fastest?

Yesterday, our 5th graders stepped into the shoes of real scientists by working with live worms! They spent time observing behavior and drawing conclusions based on their findings. (No worms were harmed during the making of this lesson. 😉)

In the morning, our early arrivals hang out in the foyer waiting for school to open. Sometimes we have an impromptu book club! 📚✨ We love seeing our students' passion for reading and learning before the bell even rings. What are your kids reading this week? Let us know in the comments! 👇
