In 1996, an interest group, Pearls 'n' Ivy was formed by seven dediciated young women with the goal of chartering an undergraduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. on the campus of the University of Texas at Dallas
After many years of hard work and perseverance, multitudes of sweat and tears, the "Stunning" Sigma Kappa Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc was created by the "Thirteen Tenacious Pearls with A Dream" on December 8, 2001.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Sigma Kappa Chapter held a Scholarship Reception to honor the Applicants and Recipients of the Pink D.R.E.A.M and Dorothy Rawlins Scholarship. Congratulations to Jason Antwi-Appa, the recipient of the Pink D.R.E.A.M scholarship, and congratulations to Ola Olaleye, the recipient of the Dorothy Rawlins Scholarship.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Stunning Sigma Kappa Chapter spent time serving the community and assisting the Office of Student Volunteerism with the UTD Community garden. While serving, members learned about the importance of food sustainability and food security.
