For those of you who have been following the story of Gloria Snyder, we have current word of upcoming services.
Dear members of the Transfiguration and Parish Episcopal School communities,
Last week we shared with you the news of the death of Gloria Snyder, who served as Head of Parish Episcopal School for three decades and was 40-year member of Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration. She died peacefully in her home on December 21 from complications related to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. We know this news brought grief to many, for Gloria touched thousands of lives as an educator, administrator, mentor, and most especially, as a friend.
A Requiem Eucharist with Committal of Ashes will be held at Transfiguration on Saturday, January 12, at 1:00 p.m. Dr. Terry Flowers, Headmaster of St. Philip's School and Community Center, and Vicki Eastland, longtime friend, and Fr. Casey will deliver remarks.
Parish Episcopal School will host a celebration of Gloria's life on Sunday, January 20, at 2:00 in the Gene Philip's Activity Center. Former students and colleagues of Gloria's will speak about her life and its considerable impact, and students will lead the singing of music Gloria cherished.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are invited to the Endowment Fund of Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, St. Philip's School and Community Center, and the Gloria Snyder Scholarship Fund at Parish Episcopal School.
We continue to invite you to share your thoughts and stories through the school's website - parishepiscopal.org/Gloria - and we invite your continued prayers for Gloria, and for all who love and miss her dearly
Father of all, we pray to you for Gloria and for all those we love but see no longer. Grant to them eternal rest. Let light perpetual shine upon them. May Gloria's soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Almighty God, Father of all mercies and giver of all comfort: deal graciously, we pray, with those who mourn, that casting all their care on you, they may know the consolation of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Sincerely,
Dave Monaco

Within a week, news of Gloria Snyder went from bad to sad. She taught us many things as both students and adults and her influence spans generations. Below is the announcement from Parish Episcopal School.
Dear Parish and Transfiguration Community:
It is with great sadness that we update you with the news that Gloria H. Snyder died on yesterday evening, Friday, December 21, 2018, after a rapid decline in her health brought on by a recent diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. We grieve with Gloria's friends and family.
Amen.
Once service arrangements are confirmed we will update our community. For now, know that Parish Episcopal School will host a Celebration of Life Service on at the School's Midway Campus for those who knew Gloria via her school and professional relationships. A more intimate Funeral service for her family and church community will be held at Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration. Again, as soon as arrangements are confirmed, will send an updated communication.
Gloria, or "Glo," as she was known to many, was an active parishioner of Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration for more than 40 years. Among other activities she was a long time member of the altar guild, usher team and a regular reader at church services.
Gloria joined Parish Day School as Head of School in 1980 and served the Parish Episcopal School community until 2009 when she retired. Under her leadership, she guided Parish from the "little church school on the corner" to the PreK – 12th grade independent school that we are so fond of today.
During the expansion of Parish and the addition of the Midway campus, Parish nearly tripled in size under Gloria's leadership. However, her desire in growing the School to become a competitive, educational institution for students in the Dallas area never overshadowed her priority for the School to remain true to its core of nurturing and teaching kids under the banner of Wisdom, Honor and Service. No matter the accomplishment, her wish for the School was always that we'd "still have the same culture and the same climate" as the Hillcrest campus where she dedicated her energy to its students and families for 21 years before expanding.
Thank you for your continued prayers during this difficult time for Gloria's friends and family.
Again, we will send an updated once service arrangements are confirmed. Until then, we welcome you to continue posting your thoughts with Gloria's friends and family on our community website - parishepiscopal.org/Gloria..
Sincerely,
Dave Monaco

For our summer reunion, the committee had invited Gloria Snyder, but she was unable to attend. Those who interacted with her at Richardson High School or later on with our children at Parish Day School would have difficulty in finding enough superlatives to describe her. Now comes news at the first of the month that is both difficult to receive as well as pass on.
Dear Parish and Transfiguration Community:
We write to communicate sad news about someone who is very important to Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration and Parish Episcopal School. Gloria Snyder, who served Parish as its second Head of School from 1979-2009, has recently experienced a rapid decline in her health. She has been diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob and her prognosis is not favorable. For those of us who know and love Gloria for her irrepressible spirit and zest, the sudden onset of a condition of this sort has been heartbreaking.
At this time, Gloria is under round the clock medical care and supervision. She is taking no visitors. As Gloria has touched thousands of lives, we realize many will wish to express their love, support and prayers. As such, we have set up a page on the Parish website - parishepiscopal.org/Gloria - and we welcome you to share your thoughts with Gloria and the community there.
As a church and school community, we will continue to work together in the weeks ahead to love and support Gloria and those who are tending closely to her needs. We are sensitive to the community's concern for her and will communicate updated information with you as appropriate.
In the meantime, what we can do together is offer prayer for Gloria's comfort and of gratitude for her caregivers.
O Father of mercies and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need: We humbly ask you to be present with our beloved friend Gloria. Look upon her with eyes of mercy; surround her with your love on every side; banish all fear and anxiety from her heart and give her your peace that passes understanding; bless every hand that cares for her and strengthen all who tend to her needs; and give grace to all who love and worry for her, that we will put our faith in you. All this we pray through the lover and physician of our souls, your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
Sincerely,
Dave Monaco

Please consider this to be a late housekeeping announcement. If you find it redundant, just remember that I could have always sent this message again.
One month ago, 185 of Richardson High School's finest graduates met to enjoy a night of fun and friendship. Michael O'Brien, our DJ for the evening, captured more than a few moments in pictures, the entire lot of which has since been posted to this page for you to view. For those who were there and wish to continue the good vibrations, or for those who were not there, or for those who have not yet explored this page, if you have not already, we now encourage you to get a good look at how we've all boiled down...or blossomed (the glass is half full).
Please look over the evidence and feel free to add your comments or tags.
Thank you again for accepting the offer and we hope that this was a "time of your life" experience.
Until we meet again...

The goal of the reunion was for old friends and acquaintances to assemble, visit, enjoy a carefree evening and say "Boy, that was fun!" on the way out the door. The consensus seems to be that each and all of our grads were able to do just that.
A big thanks to everyone who attended. You made this a roaring success !!
Also, the Social Media sub-committee wishes to extend appreciation to Michael Butler and Mike Fincannon for their meritorious service in contributions of photography as well as passing along important notices both before and after the reunion.
Until we meet again...
